Scenes From The Cottage

What do you get when you combine a lake, perfect weather, 2 boats, and nothing to do but to sit back and enjoy it all? One fantastic summer weekend, of course.

Couldn't have had a better time with Billy's family in Port Clinton this weekend! I'm a little sad to get back into the weekly routine of things. Camden loved "driving" the golf cart, throwing rocks into the water (I think he could have done this for hours), playing at the beach area, and ran around on the boat like he was the captain. I'm sure if he could speak in sentences he would be asking to go back next weekend! Billy's parents just bought a 2nd boat so this was our first time on it, and of course it was so nice. It's smaller than the other boat so it was easier for Camden to walk around, when we were going slow. And the front of it has lots of seating where I plopped down, kicked my legs up, and didn't move most of the way.

I freaking love you, lake life. A LOT of proof below...

"hey, you guys going to get on this thing with me or not?!"

(don't worry-this is just grape juice..aka nonalcholic wine)

 (Rocky wasn't left out of the fun at all-he was a happy camper who got lots and lots of walks by the water!)

That sunset though...major heart eyes.

I'm really thankful that our kids have such an awesome place to experience summer weekends, and am already looking forward to the next time we can bring BOTH of our boys!! When we left yesterday we just kept saying how next time baby brother will be with us, too. Can't believe we're so close to becoming a five (Rocky included) person family now! Still just a tad bit crazy to think about.

Have you visited the Port Clinton area before? What did you guys do this weekend?

When At The Lake...

You:

+Celebrate your brother-in-law's engagement!

I put together this little gift basket with champs, a bridal magazine, mr. and mrs. koozie's (found at Michael's), a ring holder,  and placed it all in a white bin (that she can use for all the wedding papers she's about to have!)

I actually made the ring holder...it was easy peasy! I just cut a piece of foam and burlap to fit in the frame portion, then I took a pin and bent it down to go through the foam so that it would stick out and she can hang her ring on it. I thought it was cute!

+Spend all day at the "beach" area with your friends and their kiddos!

 Camden & Ella (our friends youngest baby girl!)
 Camden & Olivia (holding hands! same friends oldest daughter)

 toes in the lake/sand for the first time :)

+Go eat at your favorite Italian restaurant with good friends (and their baby boy who is a few months younger than Cam!)

and then take 1,001 pics of your little man because it hits you that you have SIX MONTH OLD!!

+Go boating. A given...

+Wake up and head to the closest farmers market to stock up on fruits and veggies! The strawberries are going to be so yummy in our smoothies this week...

+Have the Monday blues. At least we've still got the Nordstrom Annniversary Sale goin' for us so I guess I can add 'stalk the mailman until he delivers my package' to this list. (Did you see my picks?!)

How was your weekend?

Labor Day Weekend Snaps

Happy September! Sorry for the radio silence over the past few days, folks.

We had our anniversary on Thursday and as it turned out, I forgot to get my post up on Friday (which are typically my favorite ones!) and then we soaked up the long Labor Day weekend. I hope everyone had a fabulous, holiday weekend with some extra rest in there!

Half our weekend was spent at home and the other half was spent up at the lake with family. For our anniversary, we tried a new place that we'd been wanting to try for dinner together. We went to The Crest and loved it...the food was delicious (lots of organic and vegetarian options!) and they had a cute rooftop garden area where you could get drinks while waiting for your table.

We decided to just exchange small gifts this year since we have a little babe on the way and we're going on vacation later this month, which will really be our gift to each other! We're going back to one of our favorite places, Naples, Florida for 6 days as our last trip just the two (three) of us! I guess this fits into the "babymoon" category, doesn't it? Anyway, Billy got me what I truly needed and wanted...a one hour prenatal massage. Seriously cannot wait to go! And I got Billy new Sperry's that he desperately needed as well.

Guess who surprised us with these beautiful anniversary flowers?

This girl. She is the best ever. How gorgeous are they though?

Aaaand now, some pictures from the lake!

I finally got to visit this huge farmers market in the area to stock up on fruits and veggies for the week. Mainly I just went for the peaches. I mean, the PEACHES right now! Ahh...don't get me started...

For the most part, we really lucked out with the weather for the weekend because it was calling for a lot of rain but ended up turning out to be a gorgeous 2 days so we spent a lot of time on the, you guessed it, boat. Billy even got to go water skiing for the first time this year...

All in all, a really great holiday weekend! Couldn't ask for anything more.

How was your weekend? Who's excited that it's moving more into the fall? My favorite season of all, but I'm sure you've NEVER heard me say that have you?! :) Aside from our trip at the end of the month, I am all for the cooler temp's and welcome them with open arms, especially when pregnant. Bring on the over sized, comfy clothes! Oh and pumpkin related everything isn't so bad either...

This month is looking like it's going to be a good one: the crib is being delivered tomorrow, I'm going to the Jason Aldean/Florida Georgia Line concert with my best friend, it's football season, and of course our trip at the end of the month! Soon after that our baby showers will be around the corner...where in the world is the time going?!

Our 4th In Photos

{My handsome date-have you seen a cuter wedding outfit for groomsmen? The suspenders, pants, shoes, everything! My dress is from here

{the perfect weather}

{morning walks by the lake with Rocky}

 {my favorite "cottage"}

{getting crazy with my flavored water ;)}

 {night boat ride-we were able to see about 6 or 7 different fireworks shows from the lake!}

{BGSU boys reunion!}

The good: All of the above, a new family member (congratulations Cara & Doug!), a gorgeous wedding, a 4th celebration and cookout with family, and multiple firework shows.

The not so good: Rocky getting attacked by a bulldog (who is normally a very sweet dog-and luckily Rocky is OK...it could've been a lot worse), sleeping on a boat (not pictured: the backache I still have that resulted from it), and the simple fact that I didn't have an excuse as to why my dance moves suck ;) everyone else can blame it on the a a a a alcohol...

How was your holiday spent? hope everyone had a lovely, long weekend!
