A WEEKEND LIKE THAT...

deserves a post dedicated to it.
Much like some of you, Ohio had a break in it's winter madness for 60 degree temps this weekend and
that means that everyone (and I mean everyone) was out enjoying it. I can't tell you how refreshing it was!

Let's break down the events of this glorious weekend and what's been going on around here lately....

By the way, if you have the Insta follow me at-katiewkrysh
It's kinda my favorite.

Friday night was me and Billy's date night. His hockey has picked up so date nights aren't as easy to come by like they had been the past month or so! We went out to dinner and drank wine at the house together and managed to make it to bed before midnight (see also: granny status).

{did the half moon manicure (love) and was decked out in purple for my run}

I've been trying to stick my goals (see this post or simple version-clean eating and working out 4-5 per week) and since the weather was amazing Saturday morning, I went for 5 mile run outside at my favorite park!

It.was.awesome and also made me wish for warm weather year round. Darn you southerners. ;) Afterwards, I made a new yummy juice with: strawberries, 1 beet, carrots, spinach, and an apple. A lot of you have been asking this-you can't really taste the beet. The juice is more sweet then anything else. I've been skipping the coffee and instead doing green tea and/or juicing in the mornings and I haven't missed it at ALL! It's crazy how much energy juicing gives you.

We also decided to take advantage of the nice weather and cooked out on our deck for lunch then took a nap with the sliding door open after. Oh myyyy lordy...it was FABULOUS! Napping with the windows/doors open is one of those little things that doesn't get enough praise as it should. That's for sure.

Billy's cousin was in town Saturday night, so for the first time in months we actually went out downtown (I don't even really remember the last time-cue "you know you're old when....") to meet up with him and his friends. Sunday was spent relaxing, cleaning up the house, and then my best friend Lindsay's parents had us over for dinner. They are so incredibly sweet because they always include me and Billy as a part of their family. Love them so much.

Tonight I'm dragging Ashley to my favorite spin class with me to get our butt kicked.
I've found that making Monday's one of my hardest workout days is a great way to get it out of the way so I'm not dreading it later on in the week.

Also, if you haven't yet-download this song for your workouts. :)

How did you spend your weekend? Have you tried juicing yet?
If not-get on it!
Make it a marvelous monday!

xo.

It's Getting Hot In Here....

YES! It's Friday!
Friday is always wonderful, but today it is for two very special reasons.

#1.
It's getting a bit warmer in these parts. We're talking up to 60 today and 65 tomorrow...
Holy heat wave! (#isitspringyet)
I might see some people sporting sandals + shorts here.
Anyhow.
So this is really silly but Friday's are meant to be silly, aren't they?
I made that up...but let's go with it!
Here's the actual story:
The other day I came home from the gym and Billy was sitting on the couch
with this huge smile on his face.
I knew something was up because he was acting really funny
but couldn't put my finger on it, and then a few minutes later he said,
"the snow outside looks really nice".
Yeah? Sure does?

I knew at that point something was in our backyard that he wanted me to see.

Then I see this mammoth staring at me in the eyes...

Billy made him (with Rocky's help, of course)
and while he claims it didn't take him very long to make,
this snowman looks like the most elaborate snowman of 2012.
{Maybe just to me, because I know I prob would not get this creative with it...}

I mean, he has his own gardening gloves and watering can
so that he can work in the yard while smoking his cigar.
Hey, better him than me!
I guess I won't have to do any yard work this year.

Not to mention, it looks like he recently got his eyebrows done
and a new fancy hat to compliment his ginger hair.

We both thought we should name him, and that's when "Marv" was born.
Pretty logical name for a snowman...right?
{Home Alone may have been our inspiration for this name}
I was thinking back tonight to earlier in the day,
and I recalled a conversation we had earlier on in the day about Marv and had to share....
{Billy is the white, I'm the blue}
A full fledge convo about our snowman, Marv.
This is actually really embarrassing. But I do enjoy silly conversations with Billy.
I'd like to think it keeps us young and fun. Or just really cheesy. It's your call.
He's probably going to kill me for sharing this and I will be living where Marv is now. Oh well.

RIP Marv - you were good to us.
Thanks for entertaining us for 2.5 days.

Actually, that whole #1 story really was just a decoy so that I could get your attention for #2...
Sorry for making you sit through that random story, but I needed something.
Something bigger, better.

#2.

We are heading to Texas!

Remember that one time last year our trip to Texas {Houston, in specific} to visit my best Steph
(I guess Beau too...) got cancelled because of a sad family event?
Well, it's time to actually make it there.

Our trip is booked for the second week of March and I could NOT be more excited!
It works out perfectly because we get to stay in Steph and Beau's brand new beautiful home
they just built AND we get to experience our first RODEO!
Giddy up ya'll!
Over the time we are going-Tim McGraw, The Band Perry, and my man Jason Aldean
will be there at the rodeo so that's obviously an added bonus to this whole thing.
Plus getting to meet some other cutie bloggers will be an even bigger bonus.

I'm a big sap, so I'm going to keep this short and sweet, but having someone like Steph
who is pretty much a sister to me that lives so far away in redneck country Texas
 can be difficult at times.
I can't just drive to see her and flights don't come cheap.

I mean, I love our friendship for reasons like this...

but mainly for reasons like this...

we wine together....

and because half the time we never know what the other person is doing...

and because our husbands put up with us and actually like each other...

Yay! So excited to see her.

Oh, and bring ON the BBQ.

Have a happy weekend, loves!

SAW IT. PINNED IT. DID IT: DIY FLOATING JARS

Whoop whoop!
I've got some pep to my step this am because I'm back in the game (aka our Saw it, Pinned it, Did it link-up..where have YOU been?) after 2 weeks off. Time to get Pinteresty!
On Pinterest, there are so many different variations of floating jars/bottles you can do.
My favorites are the ones that involve wine bottles and mason jars! Of course!
My inspiration was something like this....

However, I saw these cutie personalized spoons on Etsy from JJEvensenArt {please go look at all the different options they have...seriously adorable! they also do custom ones!}and a little lightbulb went off in my brain and I knew I wanted to use them in our kitchen with mason jars.
The spoons are just so cute...I had to have them! Krysh Kitchen and one of my favorite quotes?! TOO fun! I love how rustic and personalized they are and how they give this project an extra special little touch.

This DIY is so simple! It took about 30 mins or less!
We like that, don't we?
Now that you KNOW you can accomplish this....

What you need:
-2 decorative spoons from JJEversenArt
(or whatever you want to hang your jars with-you can use a multitude of things)
-hanging wire (1 small package)
-2 mason jars (I used 1 large and 1 medium)
-items, like flowers, to fill your jars

Steps:
-Pick your spot on the wall where you want them hung
-In this case, I then had my handsome hubby drill the screws/spoons into place on the wall

-Take the hanging wire and wrap it around the rim of your jars leaving some slack in the back so that it can be hung from the spoon. There's really no perfect way to do this, it's just trial and error. We had to fix it a couple times before we got it right, but it's simple enough to achieve. tip: You guys are total smarties so you probably know this, but just make sure your wire and knots are EXTRA tight so that your jars don't end up crashing down on your beautiful floors! :)

-Fill your jars!
Since we have a chalkboard in our kitchen, I wanted a cute way to store the chalk (where it's not just laying on our countertops) and so I decided to use the small jar for it! I might change this when spring/summer rolls around and maybe put a cactus or something in it, but for now-I like it!
The large mason jar, I filled with one of my favorite flowers...daisies!

if daisies don't make you happy, I don't know what will... ;)

And if you weren't here (or missed) our kitchen makeover, here's a picture of our whole kitchen so you get a better idea of the whole space. :)
see the whole post on our kitchen makeover: right here!

I'm so happy with how these turned out and how they go so well in our space, especially since they took hardly any time at all!

What do you think? Yay or Nah to floating jars?

Now I'm off to read {and be really impressed} with what YOU made this week!
Here's some fun ways to share your project with us: Post it on instagram with the hastag: "#SPDlinkup" and also share it on twitter. If you tag me (@katiewkrysh), I will RT your post! :)

A WATCH OBSESSION.

Alright, Alright.
I have a slight watch obsession...addiction...love.
Whatever you'd like to call it..I HAVE it!
Who doesn't these days?!

It hasn't always been that way, but within the past couple years they are my favorite pieces of jewelry (besides my ring, of course) to complete an outfit. Now that stacking different bracelets and bangles with a watch has become so popular, I've been wearing mine more and more but also looking for watch bargains. I'm a firm believer that Michael Kors can do no wrong in the watch department (amen), but I also know you can find cute alternatives for cheaper.

Below are a few of my victims favorite watches and I store them on this super cute acrylic tray from Shop Belle In The City so I can find them easily since they are the ones I wear the most.

You do have to be careful though because if you buy a cheap $30 watch, it's most likely a cheap $30 watch. If you want it just for looks (like my new recent mint colored one), then it completely serves it's purpose but don't expect it to last for years and years. So far, I've only found one watch/brand that matches Michael Kors quality but is half the price...

I recently got the Alex Gold watch and it's the perfect boyfriend style that I had been looking for to add to my {obsessive} collection. The quality is comparable to Michael Kors (really sturdy), it looks extremely similar, but it's only $98.00. On their website when you order, they have you measure your wrist size so that you can pick how you want it to fit and they donate to a cause of your choice.... I love that!

They also have this same style watch in rose gold, black, silver, and tortoise.
And...that's not all.
You can get 20% off by using the code 'KEEPCALM20
Let's all do a little dance together about that.
Or just shop all the colors here!

Thank you Wristology for creating such a great quality {and budget friendly} watch.
You've got me sold.

While on the topic of loves...wanted to ask you guys what your favorite way to store makeup is?
I have a big flat tray that I've been using, but it's running out of room and I want something that is easy to put away under the counter when need be. Any ideas? I was thinking about buying one that has 3 or so pull out drawers. How do you store your makeup? Tell me your secrets!

{Make a mental note to make sure you come back tomorrow to link-up for Saw It, Pinned It, Did it with me and Steph. I've been on a 2 week hiatus and ready to get back into it with something delicious! You'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out...}
