Five on Friday: Friendsgiving, House Updates, Hair, Oh My...

+one

We are hosting our annual "Friendsgiving" this Sunday. This means a few things: we will be having close to TWENTY people in our house, thanksgiving foods are coming early (and twice) this year, and I need to have my stretchy leggings ready.

Last year, we had about 9 people vs. 17-18, so I'm making things a little bit more casual this year. After a hefty Target bill (but I saved 5%?), our fridge is stocked with beer and wine, ingredients to make some yummy dishes, and I've already put together some cute favors for everyone to take home with them. They are so cute and I can't wait to share them next week!

{these are the little name cards I made last year. I just hot glued fake feathers to the back of a pinecone! super easy and cute}

+two

Why didn't I think of this sooner?! Genius.

+three

 Heart elbow patches. Loving them and this sweater lately!

I am thinking about getting balayage highlights in my hair. Have you heard of this? It's similar to ombre, but not so drastic. I swear, I go back and forth with my hair weekly.

These are my inspiration pictures....
 {I am also obsessed with this whole look...}

but in all actuality, I really just want Victoria's Secret angel hair. Who can help me with this? ;)

 Sigh...don't we all?!

I added some cozy, winter pillows to our family room couches this past week. They are from Target (link here, I swear I shop at other places...) and Rocky put his stamp of approval on them.

Did you see this one? Need.

Other things on the weekend agenda include painting all the trim in our upstairs (remember we finished the downstairs already? SO happy we did that and it's done!) and tonight Billy is bringing home our favorite pizza from our college town. This is especially exciting because it's 2 hours away so we can't normally get it, and it's one of the best pizza and breadsticks you will ever have (Pollyeyes for you Bowling Green, gals!)

What is on your weekend agenda?

Five on Friday: Nordstrom Sale, Bluejackets, Outfits.

+one
Four words: Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale.
Going on now! Here are my favorite picks, they are all 40% off:

nordstrom picks

This Michael Kors watch is such a steal, not to mention it's just gorgeous (I have a serious thing for gold watches and truly believe they are worth every penny! I have been wearing mine for years). That striped fleece wrap cardigan? I have this in the 'Mink' color (I ordered a small) and it is probably one of my favorite pieces in my closet right now. It is so warm and cute. Every time I've worn it people ask where it's from! The leather trim dress would be perfect to wear for holiday parties coming up. I just love it all. :)

My girlfriend brought me flowers the other day and made me this adorable mason jar for them. It matches some of the decor in our kitchen perfectly. This candle? Love this scent. Pick it up next time you are at B&BW! (Although I will say Fireside is my absolute favorite!)

+three
Last night we went to our friend Grant's surprise 30th birthday party. His wife rented out a huge suite at the Bluejackets game (our NHL hockey team) and they had food and drinks for everyone. We also happened to get on the jumbotron 3 times, it was so funny!

This was the best outfit picture I could get...gotta love #bathroomselfies.
{Leopard scarf is a gift from Nordstrom Rack, leather jacket from F21, Tunic from Target}

  Starbucks Red Cups are BACK! Who's excited?

The other night we went to my girlfriends to watch the CMA's. Her basement has a fireplace and is so adorable, I just love it. Who watched? I have to say Jason Aldean was my favorite, with Eric Church's performance coming in at a close second. :)

Tonight I am going to a wedding event with my three girlfriends for a bit then having date night with Billy. We are trying out a new restaurant in Grandview that has been on my list for quite some time!

What are your weekend plans?
Have you checked out the Nordstrom sale yet?

Friday Fashion Finds + Happy Easter

outfit details: dress: winter lennon c/o (new cute shop for you!), sweater: forever21 (similar), belt: forever21 (similar), shoes: kohls, bracelets: style love living c/o, watch: wristology c/o (want 20% off? use code: keepcalm20).

Whoa, I actually did an outfit post. It's been a while, but in my defense it's been a long winter over here!
Do two pictures even count? I hope so. I guess this is what happens when the sun is shining and the weather is actually warming up here! Amen.

You guys know that I love sharing affordable shops with you, right? I do.

So, today is all about the shop Winter Lennon, where this dress came from.
In the summer I plan to wear it by itself, but since it's still cold here I decided to style it with a neon sweater on top. In my opinion, the collar on this dress totally makes it. I love it.

I also got this scarf (below) which I love and can't wait to wear. It's currently on sale for only $9.99...
They have other colors of it, too!

My guess is if you go take a look around at Winter Lennon, you will find many things you like.
Don't say I didn't warn you.
ie: have fun and make sure you check out the dresses.

{easter 2012-I'm patiently waiting for our tree to bloom like that...}

How are you spending your Easter weekend? Growing up, Easter was always my favorite holiday. I'm not sure if it was getting all dolled up, or the candy part, but I'd take a bet that it was the candy part. The weather here looks like it's going to be close to 60 and sunny, so I plan on spending as much of it as I can outside! You can follow along via instagram @katiewkrysh, if you'd like.

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend! I haven't baked anything yet, but if you need a cute idea of something to make, I made these little chicks last year and they were a huge hit. Lastly, did anyone see the Buckeyes game last night? I was screaming! ha. They play again on Saturday so if you want to cheer for them, I wouldn't hate it. xo

VISITORS + SOME OUTFITS!

Hey guys!

Did your team win the Superbowl last night?
I didn't really care either way who won, but was somewhat pulling for the 49ers!

We had some visitors this weekend at our house and even managed to get surprised by a few more.
Friday after work we were expecting Billy's brother and his Dad to come into town, but when we opened the door his uncle and cousin came with them too. It was so fun to see them and have them stay with us for a night. Billy had a hockey game to ref so we went down to campus to watch him (or to almost get kicked out for cheering too loud-yep, for the ref... ha) and then we went to a couple places afterwards for dinner and drinks. It was an entertaining (and late night) for us, but somehow I still managed to get up for spin class at 9 on Saturday morning! Success!

I managed to wear two striped dresses this weekend..guess I was really in the mood for them.
Can I just mention real quick how hard it is to look cute in the winter?
You only have so many options!
Anyway-the first dress (that is under the cream sweater and is red/navy) is from Kiki La' Rue, scarf Marley Lilly, Boots UrbanOG, and sweater is Forever 21.

This is what I wore Saturday night for date night.
Dress Forever 21, sweater is h&m, belt is from Target, and unfortunately I can't remember where I got the chevron necklace.
{do you have instagram? follow me @katiewkrysh & leave a comment letting me know your username!}

Saturday afternoon the boys left and me and Billy had date night the rest of the evening. We actually ended up finding one of our favorite new pizza places by luck! We were in the area going somewhere else but decided to try somewhere new (Meister's Pizza/Bar in Grandview) instead, and boy was that a good decision on our end! They have some amazing pizza. If you go-get the deep dish. They put the sauce on top of the cheese and toppings and it was SO GOOD. I can't stress that enough. We were happy campers ;)

On Sunday besides watching the game, we ran errands and finished up an awesome DIY project around our house (that will be posted on Thursday) and we are SO happy we did it! Stay tuned for that. I also got around to painting my nails pink and red for Valentine's Day and we hung this print from the lovely SS Print Shop in our bathroom!

Tonight, I was invited to go to a tasting event at Red Lobster with some other bloggers and we are trying out their new menu with lighter calorie options that is currently in the works! How fun is that?

Will keep you posted with yummy details, of course. What kind of blogger would I be if I didn't? ;)

I have to ask...is anyone else watching Pump Rules after the Bachelor on Monday's? Someone? Anyone?! I fully admit that I'm 100% obsessed with this show. I may be a bit biased because Lisa is one of my favorite housewives anyways, but it's like the new Hills! Maybe even a bit better at times. Except Brody isn't in it and that definitely gives them one strike against them.

A WEEKEND LIKE THAT...

deserves a post dedicated to it.
Much like some of you, Ohio had a break in it's winter madness for 60 degree temps this weekend and
that means that everyone (and I mean everyone) was out enjoying it. I can't tell you how refreshing it was!

 Let's break down the events of this glorious weekend and what's been going on around here lately....

By the way, if you have the Insta follow me at-katiewkrysh
It's kinda my favorite.

 Friday night was me and Billy's date night. His hockey has picked up so date nights aren't as easy to come by like they had been the past month or so! We went out to dinner and drank wine at the house together and managed to make it to bed before midnight (see also: granny status).

{did the half moon manicure (love) and was decked out in purple for my run}

 I've been trying to stick my goals (see this post or simple version-clean eating and working out 4-5 per week) and since the weather was amazing Saturday morning, I went for 5 mile run outside at my favorite park!

It.was.awesome and also made me wish for warm weather year round. Darn you southerners. ;) Afterwards, I made a new yummy juice with: strawberries, 1 beet, carrots, spinach, and an apple. A lot of you have been asking this-you can't really taste the beet. The juice is more sweet then anything else. I've been skipping the coffee and instead doing green tea and/or juicing in the mornings and I haven't missed it at ALL! It's crazy how much energy juicing gives you.

We also decided to take advantage of the nice weather and cooked out on our deck for lunch then took a nap with the sliding door open after. Oh myyyy lordy...it was FABULOUS! Napping with the windows/doors open is one of those little things that doesn't get enough praise as it should. That's for sure.

Billy's cousin was in town Saturday night, so for the first time in months we actually went out downtown (I don't even really remember the last time-cue "you know you're old when....") to meet up with him and his friends. Sunday was spent relaxing, cleaning up the house, and then my best friend Lindsay's parents had us over for dinner. They are so incredibly sweet because they always include me and Billy as a part of their family. Love them so much.

Tonight I'm dragging Ashley to my favorite spin class with me to get our butt kicked.
I've found that making Monday's one of my hardest workout days is a great way to get it out of the way so I'm not dreading it later on in the week.

Also, if you haven't yet-download this song for your workouts. :)

 How did you spend your weekend? Have you tried juicing yet?
If not-get on it!
Make it a marvelous monday!

A NEW YEAR WITH NEW BEGINNINGS

Oh, hey there!
I can officially say happy twenty thirteen!!
When we were celebrating the other night, I just had this feeling 2013 is going to be a great year. Not that anyone ever predicts a bad year {what fun would that be?}, but I still had that feeling. 2012 was one of the best years for us, and I can only hope it stays that way. I'm excited to see what is in store for myself, KC&CO, and in our little family! For new years eve, we went out to dinner with some friends to McCormick & Schmick's, and then ended up at Columbus' newly opened casino. We had a great time and I bet you can imagine the crazy good people watching we had at the casino. It was pretty fantastic, ha ha. I told myself that no matter how late we stayed out {ended up being around 2am} that I would make it to spin class at 10am the next morning, and I did! I'm determined to stick to those goals I told you about Monday.

What I Wore: Dress-H&M, Blazer-old {not sure}, Tights-Target, Shoes-Macy's.

This is one of my best friends who is due with her baby boy at the end of this month!
We are so excited to meet him and I know Marissa is ready to pop him out. ;)

 {yep, our Napa glasses got some use NYE.}

Anyway, what have we been up to?
Well, our tree and Christmas decorations were put away the other day, and now our house feels totally bare. I think I need to invest in some more house decorations to make up for this! I know I should have some riveting post to start the new year, but the truth is one day work weeks get to me. And by get to me I mean I soak them up in every way possible. Like even standing outside in the 20 degree temps to get pictures with Billy and Rocky in the snow. Completely normal and acceptable, right? I think they turned out so cute, and were worth braving the cold temps for. I'm excited to frame some of these!

The holiday break hasn't quite ended for us yet. Remember when I mentioned we are going skiing? We leave for our weekend ski trip to Snowshoe, WV early tomorrow morning! We are so excited to ski with family and friends in the mountains and I've already reserved one of the hot tubs for myself. I told the staff at the resort to hold it for me with a sign that reads, "Reserved 24/7 for Katie Krysh-don't even think about stepping foot in this hot tub." Kidding. I wish. But I don't plan on moving out of it every single night. Billy will have to pry me out with offering wine, or something equally as good. Steph will be hosting Saw It. Pinned It. Did It link-up by her lonesome tomorrow, so link-up with her if you're interested! It won't be the same without me {I know, I know}, but try and make do. ;)

I promise I will be back next week fully refreshed with some great posts to share to start this new year! Also, I will be contacting the winner of my last giveaway via email today. I haven't forgot!

What I Wore: By The Water

Dress: Forever21 (also worn here in Teal) / Hat: Forever21
 Shoes: Old Navy / Belt: H&M

It seems like for the past month we have living by the water {on the weekends, that is!} and to me, that means outfits are relaxed and easy to put together. Sundresses, cute bathing suits, flip flops, fun hats, coverups, jean shorts, and lightweight tanks are the majority of what you would find in my suitcase when we leave on the weekends!

I'm proud to say this entire outfit cost me less than $40.00 total,
which makes it that much better.
I bought this dress in both black and teal because I knew I would wear it a lot,
and it's less than $15, so talking myself out of it wasn't possible at that point.

...and I have a feeling this hat is going to get a lot of use in the future!

What would I find in your suitcase for short weekend trips away from home?

xo.
