7 Days of Juicing + Jillian Michaels Detox

Hey friends!

So it's taken me a little longer to get back into a regular blogging routine as you can see! Things are going much more smoothly now that Camden and I have a nice little routine in place (and he's sleeping longer!), so I know that it's only a matter of time before I am posting regularly again. I have so many posts half written - it's just getting around to finishing them. Making it a goal of mine this week to do that!

In the meantime, I have gotten so many emails and comments lately about two certain posts that I originally talked about a couple years ago and wanted to share them again for those asking, or if you might have missed them. We can't have that now can we?! Since it's the beginning of a new year (two months into it still counts right? please say yes because it feels like yesterday that it was Jan 1st.), we all have a blank slate to get motivated and to make this your healthiest year yet!!

Here's two options to get you back on track...

The first is the Jillian Michael's Detox Drink. Full post here.

The next is the 7 Days of Juicing that I did around his time last year. Full post with recipes here.

Both are easy to fit into your current diet and lifestyle, but will increase your energy and help you get rid of some nasty toxins that has (most likely) been weighing you down! Don't be scared to give them a try, girls. You will feel so much better, trust me.

I have a new smoothie post coming soon, too! I really want to get back into posting healthy recipes again and it's the perfect one to start with.

Good luck if you give these a try and let me know if you have any questions!

Native Cold Pressed

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

This one is for all my local readers and I'm pretty excited to share about it....

There is now a place here in Columbus where you can get 100% raw, organic juices! Enter Native Cold Pressed, which is located down on North High Street. What's it all about you ask?! Well, they use locally sourced ingredients to create you a delicious raw juice that is always served in a glass bottle. Each bottle consists of roughly 3 pounds of produce and is loaded with nutrients! The owners, Nicole and Erin, can even help you pick out a cleanse if you're interested in more than just one juice. They have beginner cleanses for those who are newer to the juicing lifestyle and also more experienced cleanses. You can even create a custom cleanse, too.

I just recently tried the green grapefruit + the pear ginger juices (you can see the menu here) and loved them. The pear + ginger was very mild so if you don't like a drink that is too bold, this would be a good one for you to try. I liked the green grapefruit the best though out of the two because of all the yummy vegetables in it! I drank them for breakfast and felt like I could take on the world the rest of the day... ;) It's safe to say I will be a frequent visitor of Native because let's be honest, sometimes you don't want to get that mess at home, or maybe you don't have all the produce you need on hand, and you just want to pick one up that's already prepared and ready to drink. That's how I am sometimes, at least!

Make sure you give Native Cold Pressed a visit! You won't be sorry! (and your body will thank you...)

Do you have a raw juice company in your city? If you haven't looked, it wouldn't hurt to search for one!

Bridal Babe Juice

Happy Tuesday y'all!

T-minus 8 days until I'm in Texas and no longer suffering away in this 30 degree weather. I can only imagine how good the expected 60 degrees on Sunday will feel! Bring it on!

It's usually right around this time of year that I like to amp up my juicing. I try to stay consistent with it and make sure to have a juice at least twice per week, but with bikini season approaching my goal is to make four juices per week until May or so.

I came across this Bridal Babe Juice recipe by the Tone It Up girls and thought I would share it in case there are any brides out there (or past brides-hey, we are still brides aren't we?!) who want to try it! It has coconut water in it which I normally don't include in my juices, but is great in this one. I'm funny about coconut water too...I can't seem to get myself to love it. Anyone else in the same boat?

Also, you may have seen on my instagram from before that I did a 7 day juice challenge a couple months ago (you can see all the recipes for them: here). I'm thinking about doing it again, but providing a shopping list beforehand so that others can follow along easily. Just a note-I usually have a juice for breakfast or afternoon snack. I still eat my normal meals during the day. Thoughts? Would you join me?

And since I'm in a "countdown to vacation" mood, here are some things I'd pack in my bags for those who might have a trip coming up (or just want to scoop up some of these cute things!): palm print dress, striped espadrille slip-ons (less than $40!), anchor tee, plaid shorts, and these gorgeous wedges are perfection!

7 Days Of Juicing

Last week I completed 7 straight days of juicing. I had one juice per day, typically for breakfast or as an afternoon snack.

Ever since I got the third love of my life, this Breville juicer (another option here), I try to juice two to three times per week. It makes me feel amazing and gives me so much energy. But this time I wanted to challenge myself and do it for a longer, straight period of time so I figured it's now or never.

At the same time, I wanted to make sure this was something that I knew I could complete because who wants to set yourself up for failure in the first month of the new year? Not me! That's where the 7 days, 1 juice per day came in...I knew I could complete this and cross it off my list and as an added bonus find some yummy new recipes that I might not have tried before. Check, check.

If you are new to juicing, most of these recipes are good for beginner's and can help set you up if you are ever thinking about doing a major cleanse in the future (for example: 3 full days with no eating-just juices.) They are also a good mix of different ones so you can see what you like or the ones you can't stand.

For those that have instagram, you can follow me here to see all the juices there too and pull up the recipes quickly right before you juice. Otherwise, feel free to pin these so that you can pull it up at home whenever you need it!

Let's get into it...all of these juices make a full glass worth. Sometimes I like to put them in wine glasses or a mason jar just to make them look more fancy and appear that I'm drinking a margarita, but most of the time I use plastic cups because I can just throw them out after and not worry about an extra thing to clean up... #truth.

My favorite juice was probably Day 1, Day 3, or Day 6, but I liked them all. I had never juiced a sweet potato before, and was so surprised with how much I liked that juice.

Overall, I would say I normally juice more green juices than anything else and the vegetables I use the most are cucumbers (they produce so much juice and are inexpensive!), apples, celery, and beets. I almost always add a little bit of peeled lemon because it masks some of the vegetable taste. With the Breville juicers that I recommended above, you can throw in most of these vegetables and fruits whole. If they are really big, I will just cut them in half.

Last tip: always wash your fruits and veggies well before and clean your juicer right when you are finished!

Any other questions? Leave it in the comments below or email me. I hope a juice is in your near future!

Life Lately And Being More Productive in 2014

one-layers upon layers to watch OSU (lose, ugh): grey polka dot top, chambray (40% off with code yesplease), similar vest, hunter boots // two-back to the gym and spin class // three-Rocky's favorite spot // four-green juice on day 3 (read more below) // five-goodies for our buffet and bar area which is now COMPLETE! I will be sharing the pictures soon..stay tuned :) // six-casual outfit for shopping with the husband for jeans for himself..pretty sure I gained a grey hair this day (still loving these nike's) // seven- lunch and 25 cent wine date with this cutie // eight-beet juice on day 4 and an awesome book find from Anthro! // nine-if someone can find this shirt in my size (small) I will love you forever... :)

Four ways I'm being more productive (already, #cheers) in 2014:

1. You know how there's that one drawer or cabinet in your house that you avoid organizing because it's just gotten a little too out of control?

That is our mail/vitamin cabinet for us. It houses all sorts of things from pictures, mail, sunglasses, and vitamins (I put them in here because we always take them when we eat breakfast and they are easy to get when we're leaving the house). Well, Mr. Big-bad-intimating-cabinet finally got organized this weekend. Bins were added, things were thrown out (why did I keep HALF of that stuff...) and it feels good, real good.

2. I've mentioned before that I have issues when it comes to taking naps. I can never take them. Oh how I wish I could, but it seems like when I try I just lay there with my brain going 25mph and I can never actually fall asleep. 30 minutes later and I'm wondering what the heck is wrong with me! Not this year, though. TWO naps have already been taken in 2014. You might be wondering how this makes me more productive, but I assure you that it has because some of the tasks I completed after these naps wouldn't have been started if it weren't for the nap prior. You know, like #1 above. I stand by my statement... ;)

3. I cleaned and organized my office space. Desk-organized. Only things I'm actually using is being stored there. Folders and papers-all cleaned out and only the necessities were kept. Shelves-Crap. This is next on the list....

4. Leaving myself more time in the mornings. I cannot stand rushing places, and towards the end of last year I always felt like I was rushing out the door instead of leaving myself more time to get ready and finish things I want to finish before leaving. This is one of my biggest goals this year, and all it takes is getting up a little earlier (or when my alarm actually goes off the first time) and making a few small changes. Packing my gym clothes and making my lunch the night before are two things I've started doing that give me some extra time and makes me less stressed out. Win/win.

and because this counts (but five things in 2014 doesn't sound as pretty as four things...)

5. I have started making new meat recipes for Billy. Sure, I experiment all the time with pescatarian related meals (mainly because they are harder to come up with), but I was slacking on making new meals for Billy that included meat that he would enjoy.

So, guess what? Tomorrow I have a healthy meat recipe to share. It's one of those that you can trick your meat loving husband into loving because they don't even know that it's really healthy for them. These kinds of meals are the best. I've made this recipe twice so far because Billy loved it so much the first time. I'm sure it will be made again soon...maybe even this week.

What are some of your goals for 2014? Does organizing your house make you feel more productive like it does for me?

Just finished day 5 of my 7 days of juicing challenge! Thank you to those who have joined me or followed along via instagram. We're almost done! I will do a big post with all of the recipes when it's over. :)

Over and out! Happy Monday!

Love Somebody by Maroon 5 on Grooveshark
Happy Tuesday!

Remember when I shared this post with my recent bathing suit finds and about how the Tone It Up Girls also support and wear Maaji Swimwear? Well, this girl almost fainted yesterday upon finding out that the Tone It Up girls are releasing their own swimwear line! (Not dramatic at all...)

Cue the excitement NOW.

This is amazing news (for them-obviously) but for us too since they are always wearing the cutest suits. Just thought I would share this little tidbit in case you haven't heard yet...

It dawned on me the other day that I haven't shared what's been going on in the healthy eating / juicing / workout out department. Now that it's bikini season I've been trying to increase my juicing (but I haven't shared much-sorry, fixing that today!), but I've also found something else I'm quite fond of...

insert Advocare's Spark

Who has tried Advocare or this product?
I'm a big fan.

I will typically drink this in between meals when I need a boost of energy or after a workout. It tastes delicious (all you do is mix it with water-I decided to use a blender with some ice!) and I'm a big supporter of Advocare products after success with the cleanse last year.

*If you are interested, visit the awesome Sarah // her website to learn more or to get your own! Now is a great time to try these products.

As for the juicing-I will try to juice at least three times a week right now. Typically they are breakfast juices, but last night I made a killer dinner juice (to go along with a loaded sweet pototo) so I figured I'd share.

If you don't remember why I love juicing so much-go here and read up. Then try it. :)

I have an awesome recipe to share with you later this week! One of my favorites.

Over and out!

A Few Of My Favorite Things

What is 2 days long (but should be longer), the best part of the week, and has fun written all over it?
The weekend. Like you needed my help with that answer.
This one was exactly that!

It involved some of my favorite things...
fro yo (that Billy picked up for me on Sunday-thank you hubs), preparing for St. Patrick's Day with these mustache straws (only the best holiday ever), actually getting dressed up // out of sweatpants ;), new hydrangeas in a pot for our kitchen table.

And some of my favorite outfits recently...
you guys on instagram (follow me @katiewkrysh) seemed to love this first outfit (specifically the shoes)
so thank you, thank you for all the love!

{shoes: converse (first time busting them out this year!), jeans: f21, top: old navy, sweater: h&m, watch: target}

{boots: kohls (last year), top: old navy, blazer: h&m}

Saturday, while Billy helped my Dad start to move things to their new house, I ran some errands and tried a new juice recipe that I thought I'd share with you in case you want to try it....

3 carrots
1 apple
half a cucumber
1/4 of a lemon
2-3 stalks of celery
2 handfuls of spinachs
1 pear

=
a good time.

Billy always tells me I'm in "such a good mood" after I juice...and it's true.
It's like juicing is my "coffee" (which by the way, I haven't had in a month...)

Saturday night, Billy's cousin Greg was in town so we decided to go out downtown with some friends and then meet up with him at a birthday party.

Sunday was spent much like this.....
Wasn't mad about it at all.

Also, happy Valentines day week!
I've got some good things planned this week to celebrate ;)

Tomorrow I have a pretty awesome/tasty/you will want to eat your computer screen recipe that I'm pretty excited to share! It'd be perfect to make for your loved one, so come back then or forever hold your hunger. Something along those lines.

How did you spend your weekend?

PS-The winner of my Red Lobster giveaway is Hannah from TFATO.
Hope you're ready to eat some yummy food! I will be emailing you shortly.
Thank you to those who entered!

Go link up with miss Sami!

WHY YOU SHOULD JUICE {MY 1ST JUICING RECIPE}

What You Need:

+3 medium carrots
+6 leaves of kale
+1 medium beet
+1 green apple
 +1/4 of a lemon
+1 banana
{you can omit this: many juicers don't respond well to banana's. If you want, you could blend it in a blender then add to the juice!}

Just popping in to share one of my favorite juicing recipes so far!
With the new year, I told myself I'd like to start juicing more, and also share more healthy recipes/drinks here on the blog. If you haven't tried juicing before, this is a good time and recipe to start with.

Not only is juicing great for you, it's also kinda fun to experiment with different combinations! Juicing makes it easier for you to get those daily servings and fruits and veggies you need. You get more of the essential nutrients your body needs from juicing than eating the veggies and fruit raw. Fascinating, right? Sometimes it can be hard to get all your servings in and that is where juicing can help you!

Tip: I would recommend juicing more veggies than fruit because of the sugar in fruit.

This recipe does not taste like leafy lettuce, I promise {I wouldn't drink it if so!}.
If you don't have a juicer, well you better get out there and buy one. No but really, I highly recommend investing in one. They have different price ranges that fit your budget. I use an old one that was passed down to me from my Mom (they don't make them like they used to-that's what I tell myself, haha), but I've heard great things about Breville's.

What is your favorite juicing combination?
Try it-you will feel great!
+If you're wondering, I did juice the banana,
but it can mess up some juicers so it's not recommended.
An alternative if you want to use banana would be to put it in a blender and add to the juice
(thanks to a lovely reader for that suggestion!)

P to the S: What did you think of the Bachelor last night? I had to get creative with my tivo last night...the Biggest Loser, the Bachelor, and RHOBH all in one night around the same time...what's a girl to do?! At least I have more shows to watch tonight, I guess! JUST what I need. My overall thoughts about the Bachelor was how nice/refreshing it was to have a bachelor with a sense of humor and on screen personality (vs Ben last year). Sean was definitely the right person for this season! He is funny, humble, and a gentleman! I love that. As for the girls? My final 4 picks are: Desiree, Lindsay, Selma, and Ashlee. I think Tierre makes it far, but the clips of her bringing so much drama to the house makes it seem like she may leave on a bad note. Thoughts?

*Linked up for Tasty Tuesday's...why?
because this juice is tastyyy! #imcheesy
