Life Lately And Being More Productive in 2014

one-layers upon layers to watch OSU (lose, ugh): grey polka dot top, chambray (40% off with code yesplease), similar vest, hunter boots // two-back to the gym and spin class // three-Rocky's favorite spot // four-green juice on day 3 (read more below) // five-goodies for our buffet and bar area which is now COMPLETE! I will be sharing the pictures soon..stay tuned :) // six-casual outfit for shopping with the husband for jeans for himself..pretty sure I gained a grey hair this day (still loving these nike's) // seven- lunch and 25 cent wine date with this cutie // eight-beet juice on day 4 and an awesome book find from Anthro! // nine-if someone can find this shirt in my size (small) I will love you forever... :)

Four ways I'm being more productive (already, #cheers) in 2014:

1. You know how there's that one drawer or cabinet in your house that you avoid organizing because it's just gotten a little too out of control?

That is our mail/vitamin cabinet for us. It houses all sorts of things from pictures, mail, sunglasses, and vitamins (I put them in here because we always take them when we eat breakfast and they are easy to get when we're leaving the house). Well, Mr. Big-bad-intimating-cabinet finally got organized this weekend. Bins were added, things were thrown out (why did I keep HALF of that stuff...) and it feels good, real good.

2. I've mentioned before that I have issues when it comes to taking naps. I can never take them. Oh how I wish I could, but it seems like when I try I just lay there with my brain going 25mph and I can never actually fall asleep. 30 minutes later and I'm wondering what the heck is wrong with me! Not this year, though. TWO naps have already been taken in 2014. You might be wondering how this makes me more productive, but I assure you that it has because some of the tasks I completed after these naps wouldn't have been started if it weren't for the nap prior. You know, like #1 above. I stand by my statement... ;)

3. I cleaned and organized my office space. Desk-organized. Only things I'm actually using is being stored there. Folders and papers-all cleaned out and only the necessities were kept. Shelves-Crap. This is next on the list....

4. Leaving myself more time in the mornings. I cannot stand rushing places, and towards the end of last year I always felt like I was rushing out the door instead of leaving myself more time to get ready and finish things I want to finish before leaving. This is one of my biggest goals this year, and all it takes is getting up a little earlier (or when my alarm actually goes off the first time) and making a few small changes. Packing my gym clothes and making my lunch the night before are two things I've started doing that give me some extra time and makes me less stressed out. Win/win.

and because this counts (but five things in 2014 doesn't sound as pretty as four things...)

5. I have started making new meat recipes for Billy. Sure, I experiment all the time with pescatarian related meals (mainly because they are harder to come up with), but I was slacking on making new meals for Billy that included meat that he would enjoy.

So, guess what? Tomorrow I have a healthy meat recipe to share. It's one of those that you can trick your meat loving husband into loving because they don't even know that it's really healthy for them. These kinds of meals are the best. I've made this recipe twice so far because Billy loved it so much the first time. I'm sure it will be made again soon...maybe even this week.

What are some of your goals for 2014? Does organizing your house make you feel more productive like it does for me?

Just finished day 5 of my 7 days of juicing challenge! Thank you to those who have joined me or followed along via instagram. We're almost done! I will do a big post with all of the recipes when it's over. :)

Over and out! Happy Monday!

  1. I love juicing but fell out of it at some point last year so that is one of my goals this year as well, I do not love how they taste but the fact that they are so good for you is enough to motivate me :) I am also a horrible napper.I hate it, I think I want a nap so bad then nothing happens. You have motivated me to try again!

  2. My husband and I declared 2012 as "The Year of Organization!" Yeah. We organized one closet in one room in our house. Which, two years later, is on the "clean out" list! Hahaha. Here is to actually organizing this year, right?!?

  3. I would love extra time in the morning. I love the ideas of packing before hand! Also, naps are the best thing to ever happen to people, besides blogland of course!

  4. Oh, we so have a cabinet too! Mail, birthday cards never sent, magazines, ...basically anything that needs a quick "home" while we're cleaning the kitchen! Does Billy store tools in your cabinet like mine does?

  6. Naps are difficult for me too! I'm envious of the Mr. sometimes for falling asleep anytime and anywhere haha. And I'm totally with you on working on more time for myself in the mornings..I always forget something when I run out the door so fast. Cannot wait to see more of your fun bar area! So cute!

  8. I'm all into organizing right now too! I cleaned my apartment last night, and Boomer got sooooo excited. So clearly I need to work on this!

  9. I agree! Is it weird I feel guilty sometimes if I take a nap? Like I should have been doing something productive with that time? I took one yesterday and it was the most amazing thing and much needed! I like that goal for 2014 naps no questions asked! Love your Hunter boots! I had a hard time deciding between green and red...your red ones look adorable!

  10. I am the exact same way with naps. I just lay there thinking about everything in the world instead of falling asleep. I have been juicing a lot lately too and can't wait to hear more recipe ideas! I did a three day juice cleanse recently that was amazing!!

  11. I started the new year with organization on my mind... I cleaned out our spare bedroom (which has become my second closet), got rid of 2 large bags of clothes, sold clothes to a used clothing store for $88 profit, and now have the daunting task of the hallway closets! So not looking forward to it!

  12. I agree with the morning rush! I began waking up 30 minutes earlier so I can eat breaky and have a cup of coffee.. I love it. I feel much better about starting my day :)

  13. I HAVE to get my clothes ready the night before if I'm working out or teaching. If I don't and I try to do it in the morning, I end up forgetting important things (socks...underwear...bra pads for my workout tops...or the absolutely worst, PANTS). As for the disorganized thing...be glad it was only a drawer/desk. Not a whole room! :D

  16. As we refinish the rest of our house (the bedrooms & bathrooms) this year I plan on cleaning out/organizing everything we do or don't need for each room! I'm so tired of there being clutter tucked away to not be seen again. & Then I forget that I even have certain things! HA! Definitely need to get more organized this year!

  17. I can't nap in that I either have the million thoughts going or I fall asleep, and what should have been a 30 minute snooze turns into 5 hours! (people who power napped in college made me so jealous!)
And I am totally on board with the not rushing in the mornings, this is on my goal list too. I hate feeling rushed!

  18. These are great resolutions! I wish I could nap during the day, but I wouldn't be able to get to sleep at night if I did!

  19. I've been purging & organizing stuff like crazy and I LOVE IT. We're planning to move this year (probably not until spring/summer, but I like to plan way ahead) so I went ahead & boxed up some stuff from our bookshelves that we won't need anytime soon. I threw out MOUNTAINS of paperwork from college courses and felt like a rockstar! ;)

  20. ok im the SAME WAY with napping! I used to be able to nap like it was my job during college. Friday afternoon, come back from classes, nap, wake up, dinner, pregame, BARS! Now, if I try to nap, I hear Kurt watching TV in the other room and I'm like UGH..or I'm thinking of things I could be doing..or I cant get comfy...etc etc. I need to try to nap better! I'm with ya!

wanna come clean our junk draw? its necessary. I just recently looked in it and it had a ton of crap...including a 3 year old tootsie roll thats as hard as a rock. I've seen it daily but for some reason I dont throw it out? Weird.

    love you!

  21. I love starting the new year off with organizing! I'm glad you tackled your office and that cabinet :)

  22. I love thinking about all of the organizing projects I want to do, but I hate actually starting them. Or I procrastinate starting them so they never get done. I have a few I want to do this year. Maybe I'll start this weekend (or maybe not)!

  23. I am an OK napper - they either need to be 30 min "rests" that do actually leave me refreshed, or they turn into 2 hour sleep fests that leave me groggy the rest of the day and unable to sleep that night! Ugh.

Where, oh where, can this magical 25 cent wine be had? :)
