Have Blogger BFF. Will Travel!

Introducing you to Katie and Steph's next adventure.....

Just when I thought we wouldn't see each other for the rest of the year...
And the depression set in (no, really, it did)...

Steph practically begged us to make the 5 1/2 hour drive next month to meet her and Beau.

 I should've known.
Of course I'm not going to say no...who says no when we would be THAT close to each other?!
That's about the time when this comes in....

Have blog BFF? WILL TRAVEL!

Me, Billy, AND Rocky will be joining them in the windy city and we couldn't be more excited to have them near OUR kinda territory (aka the Midwest). And to eat lots of deep dish pizza. And to hopefully take a boat ride. And to make some crazy new memories exploring a new city, like we always do on our trips together.

Basically what I'm trying to say is...
 I can't get rid of her. ;)

OH RICHARD, YOU ARE ONE LUCKY MAN!

Also-if you want a good laugh, you know besides from this ridiculous pic above, please read this
You will laugh and you will love it. Promise.

I'd call this a pretty good Tuesday...

See you soon, Chicago!

**Any tips for where we should eat or what we should see while in Chicago? Leave them in the comments and we will be forever thankful! :)**

  2. Love. Love. Love. Chicago!!! I've heard great things about RPM Italian (Giuliana and Bill Rancic's restaurant). Navy Pier and Millennium Park are must sees...I'm not sure there is anything more touristic than those two places there. Have so much fun!

  6. I can't believe I'm flying ALL the way there to see you. You're lucky to have a friend like me who will just drop everything to fly to the "Midwest" to see your happy butt. ;)

  7. Portillos. You MUST go to Portillos and get Italian Beef. At the very least, let the misters enjoy it! SOOOO good.

  8. I am not a Cubs fan and haven't been to Chi-town since I was in high school. But something on my bucket list....watching a baseball game at Wrigley! Of course, I would love to watch my beloved red birds whip up on the Cubs while I'm there!! :)

  10. Navy Pier and Millennium Park are a couple of obvious tourist attractions, but a good time. Plus, Michigan Ave has the largest H&M I'm ever seen, so go nuts!

  12. Here's my food recap of Chicago - I LOVE eating there http://insertclassyhere.blogspot.com/2013/05/what-i-ate-in-chicago.html

  13. You'll want brunch after deepdish, right? I can't stay away from Yolk www.eatyolk.com. Their egg dishes, steel cut oatmeals, and crepes are ahhhhmazing. There are 3 locations and it is a must-eat. The river & lake combo tours are the best to see the skyline from the lake and also get to go through the city on the river. Enjoy!

  14. Lucky, lucky ladies!! Chicago is one of my favorite cities! OK, recommendations:

For brunch, Heaven on Seven (on Wabash) is ahhhh-mazing! Best Bloody Mary I've ever had. And cajun-style dishes...omg, it truly is Heaven. Google it. Go. You can thank me later.

For drinks, hit up the rooftop bar at The Wit. My husband & I stayed at this boutique hotel when we were there two years ago. (If you haven't booked a hotel yet, give this one a look.) But the rooftop bar there is the place to see and be seen!! Amazeballs.

If there are any Cubs games happening while you're in town, definitely go to one. The area around Wrigley Field has several cute restaurant bars that you can hit up before or after a game. It's super easy to get there on the el train from downtown. Plus you'll get bonus points with the hubz.

The Architectural Riverboat tour was awesome and you get to see a different side to the city.

You can go to Willis Tower and step out onto "the ledge." They are glass cubes that stick out of the top of the building. You step out onto clear glass, looking a loooooong way down. Not for the feint of heart. ;)

And oh my mercy, the shopping...**angels are singing**. Michigan Avenue is my happy place. Make it yours too. :)

I did a blog post on our trip, if you want to check it out for more details. Here is the link:

  15. Just got back from Chi Town a week ago... sooooo much fun! Wrigley Field to see the Cubs if they have a home game when you're there. Lou Malnatis for deep dish! It was so good and so filling! One slice and i was done haha. Chicago has one of the last free zoos in the states so that's pretty cool! Cloud Gate aka The Bean... of course a must in Chicago... gah i could go on for ever! You're going to have so much fun!! Oh and drinks in the Signature Room in the Hancock Building the view is fantastic!

  18. Yeah! I was in Chicago several years ago, but I remember it being a truly awesome place to visit! :)

  19. It's really fun to walk up and down michigan avenue, especially when they have the holiday decorations up. If it's still warm when you're here, the beaches are amazing! I would also highly recommend Ann Sathers for their cinnamon rolls. To. Die. For. Have fun!! :) (and of course you need to have Lou Malnati's and Portillos! Not sure Steph would enjoy the junk food though lol ;)

  20. if you're going to be there over a football saturday, go to mcgee's! i've been to OSU bars in atlanta, nashville, and probably 5 other cities, but mcgee's in chicago is THE BEST ohio state bar i've EVER been to (outside of the VC here in columbus, obvi). it's amazing. i can't even explain in words. just...just go. and get there early if you do. have fun!

  23. You two just may have the sweetest friendship.... ever!! Seriously, I envy this! I am heading back to Chicago for business at the end of September and could not be more excited!! Since the Cubs might be in town when you are there you should hit up Wrigley Field and then the Cubby Bear across the street - even this die heart SF Giants fan had a blast!! Also, Giuliana and Bill's resturant RPM is supposed to be amaze.balls.! I already made a reservation for my visit and I suggest you do the same - word is that handsome fella is frequently there in the evenings. And for a lil bit of Texas up in the windy city... Bub City has the perfect mix of whiskey, cocktails and live country music right downtown!! OMG - Have so.much.fun.!!!

  24. Lou Malnotti's is the best pizza in Chicago, though I'm not sure it's yeast free for Steph haha

  25. Make sure you go to RPM. It's amazinggggg. Also, boat trip is a must on Navy Pier. Oh, and I'm still waiting on my invite. Hehe. Only slightly kidding.

  26. Soooo much goodness in Chicago. I live in Lincoln Park, so I am partial to that area. Ya'll let me know if you need recommendations, i know you will get them from 490348 places, or if you need a proper tour guide! You will LOVE it! You must eat in the West Loop (west randolph) and you must go out to Old Town, specifically benchmark!

  27. I have lived in Chicago for 6 years and love it here. You will have such a great time visiting!

I definitely agree about RPM Italian (I kind of expected the food would just be ok and the restaurant was only using their name, but I still think about that dinner a year later). We also like Quartino (on State St.) which has the same small plate Italian format. Sprinkles Cupcakes are always a good idea.

Second City is a lot of fun. A lot of great comedians (Tina Fey, Steve Carrell) did improv there.

If it is nice that weekend you should definitely go down and walk along the lake (or rent bikes to ride along the lake). There are bars at North Ave. beach and Oak St. beach which are fun.

I can't wait to hear what you decide to do!
