WHY YOU SHOULD JUICE {MY 1ST JUICING RECIPE}

What You Need:

+3 medium carrots
+6 leaves of kale
+1 medium beet
+1 green apple
 +1/4 of a lemon
+1 banana
{you can omit this: many juicers don't respond well to banana's. If you want, you could blend it in a blender then add to the juice!}

Just popping in to share one of my favorite juicing recipes so far!
With the new year, I told myself I'd like to start juicing more, and also share more healthy recipes/drinks here on the blog. If you haven't tried juicing before, this is a good time and recipe to start with.

Not only is juicing great for you, it's also kinda fun to experiment with different combinations! Juicing makes it easier for you to get those daily servings and fruits and veggies you need. You get more of the essential nutrients your body needs from juicing than eating the veggies and fruit raw. Fascinating, right? Sometimes it can be hard to get all your servings in and that is where juicing can help you!

Tip: I would recommend juicing more veggies than fruit because of the sugar in fruit.

This recipe does not taste like leafy lettuce, I promise {I wouldn't drink it if so!}.
If you don't have a juicer, well you better get out there and buy one. No but really, I highly recommend investing in one. They have different price ranges that fit your budget. I use an old one that was passed down to me from my Mom (they don't make them like they used to-that's what I tell myself, haha), but I've heard great things about Breville's.

What is your favorite juicing combination?
Try it-you will feel great!
+If you're wondering, I did juice the banana,
but it can mess up some juicers so it's not recommended.
An alternative if you want to use banana would be to put it in a blender and add to the juice
(thanks to a lovely reader for that suggestion!)

P to the S: What did you think of the Bachelor last night? I had to get creative with my tivo last night...the Biggest Loser, the Bachelor, and RHOBH all in one night around the same time...what's a girl to do?! At least I have more shows to watch tonight, I guess! JUST what I need. My overall thoughts about the Bachelor was how nice/refreshing it was to have a bachelor with a sense of humor and on screen personality (vs Ben last year). Sean was definitely the right person for this season! He is funny, humble, and a gentleman! I love that. As for the girls? My final 4 picks are: Desiree, Lindsay, Selma, and Ashlee. I think Tierre makes it far, but the clips of her bringing so much drama to the house makes it seem like she may leave on a bad note. Thoughts?

*Linked up for Tasty Tuesday's...why?
because this juice is tastyyy! #imcheesy

  3. I just posted about juicing after the new year as well. It's true, as long as you add some apple to your veggies, it has a fruity taste!

  4. Fun fact: when you juice the nutrients go right to your cells as your body does not need to digest so you are automatically getting the health benefits. I am a big time juicer. Fave combo: carrot, apple, spinach, clementine. Best detox: celery, spinach, cucumber, lemon, ginger, apple. Looking forward to seeing more recipes!

  6. I just got a juicer for Christmas and have juiced every day since (dropped 10 lbs in the process too). An awesome documentary to watch about juicing is Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, it's on Netflix.
My dinner juice is: tomato, celery, beet, carrot, cucumber, kale, yellow pepper and an apple.

  8. Thanks for reminding me I do need to get on the juicing/smoothie train. Looks pretty dang good! I'm not a big veggie fan, so maybe this could help me get the right amount of servings per day!

  9. I need to start juicing! Sounds yummy and healthy.

I was surprised he picked the girl in the wedding dress...I thought that was a little much! And I couldnt stop laughing at the "Christian Grey" girl, embarrassing!

  11. I'm always trying to find new, yummy tasting juice recipes. Some of the ones I've made are just, lets say, not too tasty.

  12. Carrot, Pineapple, Ginger! Give it a whirl! Definetly going to try yours out! It is amazing how sweet beets and carrots can make the juices!

  13. 1 Heart of romaine, 2 cups of spinach, 1 apple, 1 pear (I usually use 2 apples, since I don't buy pears often), 1/2 banana and water. Ultimate green smoothie and if you can get past the texture it's delicious!

  14. One day I will try to juice...the texture gets me. Blah! But I do have high hopes...And for the Bachelor...so entertaining and it was only the first episode. LOVE! (I read the spoilers, so I won't mention who I like and don't like bc I think my opinion is swayed bc of what I already know! I know, shame on me!!)

    Have a great day!

    1. you should-with juices there really isn't a bad texture (more like just color can be scary) but yes with green smoothies the texture can be hard. Try it!!

  15. I am going to try this juicing recipe because it avoids my two least favorite veggies/veggies that make me gag when they are in a juice - cucumber & celery!

I really like Lesley (football girl) and also liked her little intro. I didn't care for Desiree's intro but I liked her once she got out of the limo. I also like Ashlee but not really a big fan of Selma. I wasn't blown away by any of the girls but we'll see as the season progresses.

  16. YUM! Your smoothie/juice looks amazing! I like your top 4 but I really like Leslie...they girl from Arkansas who lives in DC. We shall see, you know the crazies will come out to play! :)

ps. STILL havent watched a second of Biggest Loser...its killing me!

  17. I have been intrigued by juicing. I may have to make the investment. :) As for the Bachelor...I need to watch for an additional week before making my judgments on who I think makes it. I think they should have shared a little less in what to expect in the weeks to come. It ruined it for me.

  18. Haha, my DVR was running overtime last night too! The same three shows, I think I ended up picking RHOBH up at like 3 this morning. Not ashamed of my reality tv addiction!

  19. OMG- the Fifty Shades of Gray Girl! Good Lord!

  20. I'm on the juicing bandwagon, too! We got one right before Christmas. Please tell me you've watched 'Fat, Sick, & Nearly Dead'. If not, it's on Hulu and Netflix. You have to see it. We started with the Mean Green and and been experimenting a lot. Pineapple is such a treat! I thought bananas were on the no-juice list? Have you had success juicing them?

AND. The Bach. Whoa. It's sad how much that show brightens my day. LOVE IT. It's hard to tell so soon but I feel like there are a bunch of sweeties in his group hiding behind all the crazies. I wish he had kept Paige and I was jacked that Kacie B showed up! Let the fuuuuun begin! Now tonight I have to watch the Biggest Loser I missed last night....

  21. I've been looking at juicer's lately and really wanting to try one. I've also heard good things about Breville's juicer too. Trying this recipe as soon as I get one!

  22. I love juicing/green smoothies but I've never dared to try a recipe with beets in it. I hateeee beets. How overwhelming is the taste in your juice? I might be brave enough to try it soon.

    1. I'm not a huge fan of beets either so don't worry! It's not that overwhelming at all.

  23. I love making smoothies. You should try getting a vit-a-mix blender... holy moly expensive, but you don't have to peel anything except bananas and citrus. And it liquifies EVERYTHING. Seeds, the works. And... I can totally make peanut butter in it to! =)

  24. I loved The Bachelor last night! I'm so glad it's back...and I'm so glad Kacie B. is back. I loved her on Ben's season and I think she and Sean would be so cute together! I also really like Sarah right now.

  25. I am a long time juicer 4+ years but, I have a quick question are you putting that bannana through your juicer? I was always told that was a big no no. So I have for the last four years juiced all the veggies and fruits except the banana and then thrown the banana in my blender with the juice and coconut milk.

    1. I've heard similar things. My juicer processed it fine, but it's probably good to be on the safe side. I love your idea of blending it in a blender and adding to the juice...I will have to do that next time!

  26. i so need to invest in a juicer! this looks delicious! xox

  27. This sounds so amazing, and the perfect way to get back on track! Do you have a recommendation for a juicer?

  28. I do want to try juicing, but not sure I'm ready to invest the money yet in a good juicer. I do love to make smoothies and have tried the green monster smoothie. Maybe soon, if you keep sharing more tasty recipes :)

  30. I just posted on my green monster smoothies and juicing too! I am very new to juicing...as in just bought my juicer on Friday. So far I love the beets, carrots, apples combo! Can't wait to try your suggestion! Keep sharing what you find you like!

  31. I have the Jack Lalanne juicer (paid about $100 at Target or Costo) and I love it. I try and use one one fruit due to the sugar but usually that is enough. My favorite recipe: 2 celery stalks, handful of spinach, 5 whole strawberries, and ginger. The juicer also came with a book of recipe with an amazing strawberry vinagrette dressing. So good!

  32. This is the second post I've read today on juicing. Are you people in cahoots?! I don't have a juicer but obviously if it's on the blogs I'll be getting one soon! :P (I'm teasing). There's a relatively new business here in town, The Weekly Juicery, that has kind of peaked my interest. They're basically like a modern day milkman, except they bring you fresh juices.
