Sometimes It's OK To Act Like A Little Kid....

Sometimes Billy and I like to explore our city and do things that tourists might do if they were visiting here. We always talk about how we research/do so many fun things in other cities on vacation, but yet there is probably still a lot in Columbus that we haven't done (even though I've lived here my whole life ::shameful::). Last weekend I mentioned we won tickets to COSI (big award winning science center here) and lunch in German Village afterwards, so this weekend we decided to take advantage of the free tickets and go on a "day date" through our city.

Both of us have already been to COSI (you know, back in the school field trip days) but it's changed a lot since then so we knew it would be different and fun. We may or may not have been one of 2 couples of our age (that we noticed) there, but hey-who says adults can't get in on all this action?!

{an exhibit area called Progress where it takes you back in time and you can see how we have progressed through the years-loved this exhibit.}

The place we went out to eat after is called Schmidt's Sausage Haus and Restaurant and it was actually featured on Man vs. Food! Schmidt's has amazing German food (the bahama mama is what they're known for), but the whole time I had my eye on this guy. Their massive cream puff's the size of your head. Fact: this is NOT clean eating.

the German beers are not for kids ;)

We had so much fun on our day date and I'm just so thankful I have days (especially in the winter cold when there's not much to do) to spend with my best friend doing different things! :)

Our Saturday night ended up at my gym where I put Billy to work on the circuit workout I featured last week and then we relaxed in the massive hot tub. Hot tubs are way underrated. Essential to my winter happiness (that and massive amounts of Vitamin D supplement-who's with me?)

I also got to snuggle with these two boys a lot....

 and...

 baby Maddox.
Both equally as cute and exactly what the weekends are for, right? :)

Billy also has been working on an awesome DIY that I'm excited to share with you soon!

How was your weekend?
Go link up with Sami and tell us!

PS: Got the VINE app? Yours truly just signed up and I posted my first video this morning.
Find me at: katiewkrysh.

PPS: Come back tomorrow for a pretty, pretty, prettyyy giveaway!!

  1. I love COSI and Schmidt's! Looks like such a fun day! I always forget that our city can be a fun "stay-cation" spot! I'm on the Vine too! I will find you!

  2. What a fun day! I must say that hot tub looks divine. We are experiencing some crazy cold weather (well, cold for Eastern NC at least) and I feel like I am cold down to my bones.

  3. That sounds so fun! And let's talk about that cream puff for a second...delish? We missed out on lots of fun things because we just didn't "research" or look into it when we lived back home. We try to find fun local things to do now that we are in California, but there's not much here in the desert. :) Glad you had a fun weekend

  4. I love acting like a tourist in your own city. Those cream puffs are to DIE for. I used to get them all the time when I was little, when there was still a Schmidt's on the North side of town. And I ALWAYS volunteer when Boomer's school goes to COSI. That shiz is fun.

  5. I haven't been to COSI since my junior year of high school...we won't mention how long ago that was, but it was when COSI was in the old building, across from the original Wendy's...oh the memories. Anyway, you have totally inspired me to get tickets for Rick and I to go and act like kids again...ha! Oh and so jealous by your gym. Mine isn't as nice, but maybe I would go more if it was :) Do you go to Lifetime?

  17. Long time reader, first time commenter. I've been re-exploring my home town as well, Groupon is great for that. I never would have thought to visit some of the places they recommend.

  18. I've heard great things about Cosi. One of these days I'm going to take my kids. We are in Eastern, Ky though so it's quite a drive for us!
I would LOVE to have access to an amazing hot tub like that. My poor achy bones could sure use it. I'm thinking an overnight hotel stay with the Hubby is in order for Valentines Day. Maybe we will get to use on then.
Maddox is so precious- love him!

    Have a nice week friend!
