A couple months ago, me and Billy watched 5-7 of my home videos from when I was little (3-4 yrs old) and got the impression that Easter was always my favorite. Easter footage was on pretty much each of the videos (remember VHS?) and had the same daily routine...my parents dressed me up in a floral dress with a big white floppy hat and would hide the plastic eggs in our backyard, my Dad would be in charge of the video camera, and my Mom would help me find the eggs. The hilarious part is that year by year I did the same, exact thing: I would find an egg..stop and open it..then eat the contents of it before finding the next egg. A girl who knew what she wanted, I'd say. On all of the videos my Dad tried explaining to me: "Katie, you can place the egg in your basket and find all your eggs before you eat them." Clearly, this was not how I wanted to roll. I wanted to eat each one as I went along. Very logical..but hey, that's just my opinion. If you know me at all, you know this seriously explains my personality to a tea.

Anyways, when I think of Easter I imagine pretty pastel colors, spring flowers blooming, egg coloring, relaxing with family, and candy galore. This year me and Billy decided to do something different. We are exchanging Easter baskets (yes, like we are 10) and put a $25 limit on the items. Billy even had the idea to go as far as hiding the baskets and let me tell you, Billy takes hiding things very seriously. It's like a competition to him. I may never find my basket. ;) For the past couple years, we would typically go to my parents house and hide eggs in their backyard for all of the grandkids. It became a little tradition, but now that my parents sold the house, we don't have that awesome backyard anymore (yes, I'm sad Juju..if you're reading!) This year we are heading to Cleveland for the weekend to be with Billy's family and hang out with some friends, which I'm really looking forward to.

What are your Easter weekend plans? any special traditions?

I hope each of you have a "good" Good Friday and a special Easter weekend!

Xo.

  1. Easter is my favorite too! I love the outfits, getting together with family, dying Easter eggs, Easter egg hunts (we always had a high dollar egg from my aunt hidden on her farm property). And you are never too old for an Easter basket. :) Happy Easter weekend girl!

  2. I love, love, love Easter too! We have so many pics year after year of my sister and I in MATCHING floral dresses, hats and sometimes even lace gloves. STYLING.

It's hard because our families are both expanding and growing and traditions keep changing right now, but we'll still be seeing most of our fam this weekend :)

Ps- we are totally doing easter baskets too!
