Over & Out

totally stole this awesome idea for a post from Shanna. Also stole (see also: immediately bought) the dress she is wearing in the same post.

So Over:

1. The Bachelorette. Gasp! I thought I was going to really like Kaitlyn, but I'm just not that hooked this season. My top picks: Both Ben's and Shawn. Also, Nick's v neck skin tight hoodies. Over them.

2. Traffic. What is with all the construction going on? It's everywhere right now in Columbus, which makes the traffic around here terrible! I hate time being wasted so sitting in traffic usually puts me over the edge.

3. Staring into our video monitor. Cam has officially been in his crib for a week now, but I'm still obsessively watching the monitor to make sure he's OK. He is doing SO well and the transition has been so much easier than expected!

4. Me and Steph not getting our schedules to match up to plan a trip together. It's hard(er) now when we both have upcoming family trips and babies, but I'm hoping we can find a time that works for everyone! Paisley and Cam NEED to meet.

5. Frizzy hair. Because who has time for that?

6. Short naps. Cam is normally a great napper, but for the past week he has been fighting them like crazy and I'm lucky to get 30 minutes. Love him (and these times that I'm still able to rock him), but just no to the mini cat naps.

So NOT Over:

1. Summer. Specifically getting to go to Billy's softball games with Cam and Rocky. It's a nice way to get out of the house and mixes up our normal routine!

2. These sandals that I got for my birthday. By far my favorite Tory's! They are really comfortable, unlike my Miller's. The Miller's aren't horrible, but these are just way more comfy and I love the bright coral color. The black ones are cute too.

3. How much Cam loves when we do this...

4. Researching how to make baby food. There are so many articles that I'm a little overwhelmed with all the options/things to remember, but I think it's going to be easier than I think. I'm probably over thinking it all. I'm looking forward to seeing which foods Cam likes! PS: Favorite appliance? blender? food processor? baby bullet? Anyone?!

5. This Chili-Rubbed Salmon recipe. I've gotten food poisoning from salmon (twice-awful) so it takes a REALLY REALLY REALLY good recipe for me to actually want to eat it. This one is fabulous! We've made it twice in the past few weeks. The pineapple and peaches make it.

6. Spin class. For the past couple months I didn't make it a priority to go, but as of the past few weeks me and Billy were able to work with our schedules a bit (aka him leave work early) so that I can make it. (my favorite instructor only teaches it once a week and the timing isn't the best) but I'm SO happy to be doing it again. There is no better work out.

7. Baby selfies. Excuse my lack of make up and hair that is a wreck. It happens (more often than not nowadays!)

Feel free to voice your over's below! Hope you have a nice Thursday!

  4. I love using a blender to make my baby's food. I tried a food processor once, and I don't know if I'm food processor challenged, but it just didn't work well. Don't stress over making baby food. It's so easy! Basically add water and blend. And repeat until it is the consistency that you want it to be. Then freeze or refrigerate depending on fast it will be used.

  5. Love Cam's tiny little baseball cap. And while I hate it for both of us, I'm so glad I'm not alone in suddenly having a baby that won't take a good long nap! I guess the age they are at just makes them not want to miss anything. :)

  6. I wouldn't use a Baby Bullet because I've had a few friends who did and the motors burn up really quickly! We just use our NutriBullet which is perfect because I use it for protein shakes and smoothies anyway. It does a phenomenal job of pureeing everything! Highly recommend :)

  7. I have the baby bullet and while I like it...I totally could see how the motor could burn up really quickly - I've noticed a slight smell sometimes when I'm making stuff. Making baby food is so fun and easy - honestly, don't stress too much about it. I think once you get into it you'll love it :)

  8. I use my family sized steamer and either my larger or small food processor. I already had them, so I didn't find a need to buy a 'baby specific' blender. And it's SUPER easy. Just steam, blend and freeze! I add breast milk to some of the veggies that need a smoother consistency instead of water. I did hit up the dollar store for ice cube trays. They portion the food out in perfect amounts.

  9. We make our baby food and it's super simple. I just use our food processor (why buy something extra?!)

  10. 1. That selfie is ridiculously adorable!
    2. Just wait until you wear off the "play" mark on your monitor b/c you are pressing it so much to see your little nugget! haha I can't help myself either... still!
    3. Making baby purees is pretty easy and therapeutic - we had a large food processor already that worked well. Also, just when it started to become annoying (b/c it's fun at 1st) is when he switched to eating more textured food. I wish I would've known that!

    1. haha thank you girl, how is everything going with your little man? Oh, I can totally see that rubbing off on the button happening and SOON! Also, I'm leaning towards just using our mini food processor...this way I don't need to buy anything else!

  11. Totally agree with the Ben's and Shawn. But still, it is taking everything in me to not give up on this season. Bring on Bachelor in Paradise!

  13. If you have a food processor just use that. Steam, boil, roast, purée and then freeze or refrigerate. I've found that the babyfoode.com website has some really delicious recipes for babies that go beyond the normal ones suggested. The roasted blueberries with cinnamon, amazing. I was really nervous at first, but then, after a few weeks it just becomes second nature. Also, I found that quinoa was a great source of protein to mix in with veggies and the perfect start to transition to more textures. Have fun and good luck! Oh, and I got the babybullet for my baby shower and I've been using it since my daughter was six months old, she will be 1 next month, and it's still going strong (and I made ALL her food with it).

  15. I used the Brezza a lot with my first baby and wrote about it here http://www.littleadventuresawait.com/2011/09/mama-monday-baby-brezza-review.html?m=1 but didn't use it much with my second because...ain't nobody got time for that and organiz purée pouches are great. And the traffic between Riverside drive and Avery road can bite me. When school starts back again, I will need a lot of coffee or Xanax to get me through it!

  16. I use the babycook by Beaba and it's awesome! You steam and blend in the same machine and it's worked perfectly! It's actually a hand me down from my sister and had been working for three years now!

  17. I loved these containers..you can freeze them right in here..also can pop them out and put in a freezer bag and then keep your last batch right in it for easy thaw..they can go in the microwave too.

  18. I have always thought Kaitlyn was just super annoying and was shocked everyone was SO pumped about her season. I'm kinda watching/skimming- I have them taped but haven't cared that much. I honestly wish the Bachelor/ette shows would cast someone who hasn't been on a previous season! I feel like the people who have already been on it (Kaitlyn especially!) are playing the game.. they know what cliche things to say, how things work, how to get good drama, etc. Haha- #endrant ;)

  19. I am totally over Kaitlyn too and it doesn't help that I was Team Britt...I just skim through the episodes on Hulu.

  20. I'm probably late to the game on this one for comments but I make all of my own baby food and it really sounds more intimidating then it really is, for me anyways. I bought the Nuby Garden Fresh Magic Blender from SAM's Club and it is amazing! Comes with so many tools to help you. If you have any questions I am happy to give you suggestions on common blends that my little Snuggle Muffin loves.
