What My Ideal Weekend Looks Like...

I can't believe we are already in the month of August and another weekend has come and gone far too soon.

It feels weird even thinking about that, but I'm not going to complain because I actually feel well rested, for once, after all the events this weekend. Summer has flown by (understatement of the year) and I have no doubt in my mind that August will be the same way. We are out of town for the next three weekends to celebrate birthday's and then the last weekend of the month is our three.year. anniversary. Let's not even get into how crazy that is. Nevertheless, it's going to be an exciting month, and we all know how much I love fall (and football season!), so I'm definitely not hating that we have all these things coming up...

Anywho, do you ever have those conversations with family and friends about your ideal weather? like, if you HAD to pick a certain temperature that you would then live with everyday for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Mine would be exactly how our weather was today (Sunday): 75, sunny, with a slight breeze. It was absolutely gorgeous outside and the perfect end to the weekend, which was also pretty awesome. We did a little bit of everything this weekend-from our 1st annual cabrewing trip with friends, going biking, exploring German Village and eating outside at the cutest deli, to a relaxing day night in on Saturday. It was perfection.

Here's a look into our weekend...

Saturday morning was our 1st annual "cabrewing" trip with some of our friends. We all met at our house (after being SO close to cancelling it due to the weather-luckily it cleared up for us!), packed up the coolers with snacks and booze, and headed to Trapper John's for a day on the river. We all rented canoes and floated the river for 4 hours... some better than others, ha ha. It was so much fun and we had many laughs while trying to see if some of our friends were going to tip their boat or not at certain points. :)

This will definitely be a new yearly tradition...

Once we got back, we were exhausted so me and Billy decided to go get dinner together and watch the movie the Hobbit at home. We were in bed by midnight and it was glorious!

Sunday, aka the day with the most perfect weather in the world, was spent 99% outdoors. To start the morning off right, I made my absolute FAVORITE Tone It Up pancakes and ate them on the deck while Billy cut the grass (he isn't a breakfast person-yeah, baffles my mind...)

Tone It Up Pancakes recipe (only 4 ingredients):
-2 eggs
-1 banana
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-2 tbs ground flax seeds

Combine ingredients in a bowl. Mash banana and mix until smooth (some banana chunks are ok).
Use a 1/4 measuring cup when pouring the pancakes. Makes about 4 pancakes.

In the afternoon, we spent a couple hours exploring one of our favorite areas in Columbus - German Village! We ate lunch outside at Brown Bag deli (which is pet friendly, so even Rocky got to enjoy the weather with us) and then walked around the park afterwards.

Sunday night was spent at my parents house visiting and taking our kayak/the bikes out for a ride. Their neighborhood has a small vineyard area that it so gorgeous to ride your bike through and to possibly pick some grapes off the vine... (if your name is Katie then you definitely pick some grapes off the vine)

Not pictured? Chipotle. Because it wouldn't be an ideal weekend if it didn't end with chowing down on Chipotle right? Nom nom nom.

Well, that's a wrap.

How was your weekend? Hope it was the perfect mix of fun and relaxing! Besides, shark week just started and that's always good news!

  4. Your weekend sounds marvelous! I loved the Tone It Up Pancakes and can't wait to try them. I will have to sneak them into my normal pancake recipe for the fiance-- he likes his regular pancake mix with agave and blueberry but is very willing to try new things (just not always so healthy-- he'll never know, right?). I had a very exciting and terrifying weekend all in one.. I get big news together that may make or break me (actually my heart and the next nine months of my life). Cross your fingers for me?

  8. I love your weekend! My ideal weather is similar to yours - warm enough to be lovely, but not so hot you want to hide indoors in air conditioning! BUT I am going to experience a real, serious winter this year for the first time and I am super excited, so maybe in a few months I'll have a new ideal weather... or maybe not ;-)

  15. I so agree, this summer has flown by! We have done so many exciting things but yet it seems we just haven't had enough time to do all we wanted. I wish it would slow down a little. I don't mind moving into Fall but I'm so not ready for winter.

I'm so jealous of your weekend. It looks perfect. That river trip looks amazing :)
