CURRENTLY I AM {+ 2 NEW RECIPES!}

Wow wow wow. Can we talk about the disaster that was reality TV last night?

From the what.is.going.on.right.now also known as the Bachelorette finale to the crazy cat fights on Real Housewives of Orange County? This girl was having mild heart palpitations (not an exaggeration at all..)

I was team Chris all the way. However, not in the way that it all went down. Chris just seemed like her default choice after Brooks went home....maybe this was how they edited the show to portray it in that way, but I was all kinds of #CONFUSED. Anyone, anyone? Share your thoughts. I'm semi still wondering when Brooks is going to show up... just kidding.

As for Real Housewives of OC-I was cracking up during this whole episode. Ryan-really? Completely out of line...I was shocked. Slade being ganged up on? 100% deserved. It made for an entertaining night to say the least (hey-it's my one night I really sit in front of the tv for hours because it's after my spin class..or at least that's my excuse.)

Moving on-here's what else has been going on lately.

Currently I'm....

Listening to: my top 4 favorite songs right now are as follows...Best I Ever Had - Gavin DeGraw, Safe and Sound - Capital Cities, Holy Grail - Jay Z and JT, and I Want It All - Birdman ft. Lil Wayne (duh).

Cooking/Baking: Funny you should ask. Last week, I went to a cooking class with two girlfriends held by the editor of Edible Columbus magazine at the cutest house (turned kitchen) called The Seasoned Farmhouse. There is just something extra fun about having a professional chef explain her cooking methods, share tips, and of course cook your food right in front of you and all you had to do was watch, listen, and chow down.

She has different classes you can choose from, but we decided to do this class because it was called "Taste of Ohio" and centered around summer favorites that were all local foods/ingredients.

This wasn't a hands on cooking class where you had to cook your own food, but rather there were about 5 recipes that she showed us how to cook and that we got to eat. Right up my alley! With the purchase of the class, you got a summer cocktail (or 2), a dinner, and dessert. They also provide you with printouts of everything that was made so that you can make them at home!

The cocktail we had was absolutely delicious and worth sharing to you all. Seriously, just go make this for your friends. Too good for summer. Just too good.

Watershed Distillery Cocktail

2 oz Watershed Four peel Gin
1 oz fresh lime juice
3/4 oz cucumber simple syrup (50/50 of cucumber water, and sugar, boil)
fresh mint

Muddle mint and simple syrup in the bottom of a pint glass. Add lime juice, gin, and ice to the shaker. Shake for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain into a chilled coupe glass or martini glass.

The sandwich we had was also an A+ in my book. If you like goat cheese, you will love this sandwich. I'm craving it right now...

Olive Oil Poached Vegetables On Open Face Tartine
recipe by Tricia Wheeler

-selection of fresh veggies, sliced: little eggplants, garlic, cherry tomatoes, zucchini, squash, onions, and peppers
-juice of whole lemon
-olive oil
-your favorite sliced bread
-goat cheese, whipped with a little heavy cream (optional)
-sprinkle of salt

Directions:
1. Cover sliced vegetables with olive oil, add in lemon juice. Poach on medium low heat (simmer until vegetables are soft.)
2. Grill or broil bread until toasted on top and still slightly soft on bottom. Spread bread with goat cheese, top with poached vegetables, and spinkle with sea salt.

Loving: that I've finally convinced my husband to upgrade our kitchen table chairs, even though he worked his tush off staining our current ones last year. We've decided on the tufted style and we love these from World Market, but the legs are black and we need brown/dark brown legs!

Anyone know where I can find chairs like this, but with brown legs? (in either light grey or beige!) Would love any recommendations on where to look!

Wearing: loving my new gold T + J Designs gold watch. You can't beat the price...

Looking Forward To: I'll admit it....FALL. Yeah, I said it. The fall bug has officially bitten me, even though I tried really hard to not fall for it for at least a couple more weeks. That all went out the door when I stepped foot in H&M yesterday and bought some new fall tops. Oops....

Besides-other than the amazing weather, the leaves changing colors, the cute boots you can wear, fall means one very important thing: OHIO STATE FOOTBALL Eeeeek.

Have you ever been to a cooking class in your area? You should try it!

....and that's all she wrote.

  2. I'm definitely going to have to try Seasoned Farmhouse! Looks like it is lots of fun! As for the chairs, LOVE! Have you tried looking at Homegoods or TJ MAxx? I found some at the TJ Maxx in Mansfield that were more of a beige color with brown legs. They were really cute and had some nailhead trim!

  3. My two go-to places for dining chairs... Home Goods and, wait for it, Stein Mart! We got our new kitchen chairs there for $60 a piece, and I LOVE them!

  5. Totally cute watch and bracelets but I would hurt myself. Ummm it was the finale last night? I was too concerned with watching Below Deck and I couldn't concentrate on RHOC because the fiance wouldn't be quiet. UGH!

  8. We did a pizza/wine class at a place near us (The Party Source in Bellevue, KY). They made 5 different pizzas we all got to sample and take recipes with us, and sampled a different drink with each one too. SO FUN!

  9. Have you checked Pier1? They always have a ton of chairs

  10. Try Marshalls/TJ Maxx for chairs... they had cute tufted ones last time I was there that were gray with nailhead trim and I'm 95% positive they had brown legs... I know it's hit or miss with each store, but worth a shot!

  11. Between Nashville and now Real Housewives-I'm pretty sure we're TV twins. :)

I haven't watched this week's OC or NJ yet but I'm super excited for both of them! And Slade is a slimey creep. :)

  12. Love the tufted chair! Target has some adorable ones online right now :) And Ryan gettin all cray cray?? Yeah... That's weird. But I hear the reunion is the best OC one yet..3 parts! So excited!

  15. Don't fall for the "fall bug" just yet! There's still a month and a half of summer left! Fall doesn't officially start until September 22nd! That's a lot of time left to enjoy all things summer... boating, swimming, the beach, cute sundresses, etc..

Whenever I hear people rushing fall I remind them not to because the closer fall gets, the closer winter gets as well.. yick.

  16. A cooking class sounds so fun! I absolutely love that chair!!

  17. You'll LOVE that chair! It's the same one I have in my office and its so comfy and super girly chic :) I also think the Bachelorette was a hot mess last night and just posted my rant on my blog too - if you're in love with Brooks, don't just get engaged to your second favorite guy the following week because he makes you feel wanted when you were JUST rejected! SIGH. TV sure was entertaining last night though that's for sure!! :)

  18. That cooking class sounds amazing! I'm looking forward to fall, too. :)

  19. Have you tried overstock.com for the chairs? I've had good luck there sometimes when I can't find what I want elsewhere.

  20. I had those exact same thoughts! Love Chris, but will feel so bad if he gets is heart broken. And oh my I was laughing during OC too. Ryan went a little crazy.

  21. OMG the Bachelorette. I was Team Chris the whole time and then I thought for sure that she wasn't going to pick anyone after Brooks left. How could she since she was so in love with him? I kept thinking he was going to come back and then the After the Final Rose was going to be a disaster with him saying he made a mistake or something. Kinda disappointed that didn't happen. That would have made for good TV instead of the drawnnn out 3 hours that was last night. hahaha. I just hope that what she said about being blind to what she really needs is true, for Chris' sake. I would hate to see him get his heart broken now!

That cooking class sounds awesome!!! I have to look into something like that in my area. So Fun!!

  22. Ryan was ridiculously out of line. I loved how he slipped and said he owned the place. I hope that was a rare moment (though I fear it wasn't). I feel bad for Brianna. Have a great day, from one Ohio girl to another!

  23. The Buckeyes are about the only thing I am looking forward to for Fall right now! Okay and maybe some camping trips once the leaves have changed (:

  24. I hate Ryan and I LOVE you!! lets get together soon lover pants!!!!!!

  25. Ryan was so hammered it was crazy. And did you notice how his story kept changing every flippin' time he told it. The only point I thought he had, or maybe Brianna said it, was that Vicki goes nuts if THEY touch her furniture. And totes agree about the Bachelorette. I never watched it to be honest, but it just seemed really "rebound"-ish. And oh hey, guess who MAY be making a trip to your neck of the woods for the UW/OSU gameeeee!

  26. I was totally weirded out by the default choice of Chris too. We'll see how it goes!

  27. I pretty much sat with my mouth open at the bachelorette finale. I am one of those that read Reality Steve so I watched her relationship with Brooks like a hawk and never paid any attention to Chris. But can we talk about how spicy Juan Pablo's season will be! Oy Oy!

    PS- O H

  28. Haha! I had the same thoughts about the Bach! I was confused the whole time. I am sure there was some editing there. I am also sure Brooks is going to show up too! (loved that line)

  29. I don't know I thought the girl said it best that they interviewed, that so often love is blind, and most women don't ever realize or get the chance to see what great guy is right in front of them, but Desiree' was actually of the few women to get with the program and see the amazing guy in front of her. You could tell he's crazy about her, I mean how about that gift he gave her too!?!? I think they'll make it!

  30. Well we won't get to see the latest series for a while here Down Under. I totally love those shows - and your jewellery!

  31. I love that watch! I'm so ready for fall, I'm needing a pumpkin spice latte and a visit to the apple orchard!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Should we talk about how Gavin loves us both so much that he responded to our tweets :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I am still in shock over this bachelorette ending!! I too really liked Chris, but felt he got runner up and she was forced to continue in the process. Hopefully it works out for them!!

  34. Never commented on a blog before but just wanted to chime in that I have those World Market chairs in the grey color! Does the online description say the legs are black? The legs of mine are dark brown and go great with my mahogany table.

    1. Hey there! That one I took a picture of in store has black legs. Even the employee said they are black legs. Ugh! Wish our stores had the dark brown that you have.

  35. You lucky ducks in Ohio with nice weather and all I live in Dallas and it was 106 yesterday!! My husband and I have taken a cooking class, it was a hands on actually cook type of class and we loved it! I am so super excited for Ohio State this year for many reasons but especially because we are going to attend the Iowa game, it will be my first buckeye game and I have heard how crazy you guys can get!

  36. The fall bug just bit me today. I'm tired of the heat!! And the bachelorette killed me. I think you're right that Chris became a default choice. It was a little sad to watch. If I were Chris I would have had a hard time seeing it the way it was edited. Those tufted dining room chairs are nice! I hope you find them with the right leg colors!
