CROCK POT CHOCOLATE CAKE

So...remember that time I challenged you all via twitter to do 15 pushups (or more) per day with me, then I posted a crock pot chocolate cake recipe?

Oh yeah, that's happening right now. We're going there.
In my defense, we all deserve cheat days and we actually made this for my stepmom's birthday this past weekend.

This is one of those recipes you wish you've known about sooner because A. it's so simple that it would take a lot to mess it up and B. it is DELICIOUS. That last part is pretty important, right? Billy has claimed this in his top 3 favorite desserts (ever) so if you decide to make this for your boyfriend/fiance/husband for Valentines Day-I bet they would really like it. Hey, you could even hint for them to make it for you.

*Grab your favorite ice cream (and maybe crush up a thin mint Girl Scout Cookie, or 10-that might be my best idea EVER!) to serve with the cake and you're all set! Yum. yum. yum.

Crock Pot Chocolate Cake
(my best friends mom shared this recipe with me-so thank you Mrs. V!)

1 box chocolate cake mix
8 oz sour cream (I used light)
1 pkg instant chocolate pudding
1 cup chocolate chips
4 eggs
3/4 cup oil
1 cup water

+Mix all ingredients together. Pour into lightly greased 5qt crock pot. Cover. Cook 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low. THAT'S IT!

Note: I started cooking ours on high but felt like it was going to burn, so I turned it on low and it cooked in about 3 hours. I would recommend cooking it on low to be on the safe side.

The top will look done but the insides will be warm and gooey-like! :)

Linked up this recipe for Tasty Tuesday!

  4. Holy cow! This looks so easy! I love anything that I can keep on low while I'm away - the 2 hour crock pot recipes don't always fit with my schedule. So excited to try it!

    1. I'm not sure-I don't have one! I would just check it after 2 hours and keep an eye on it, it shouldn't differ an extreme amount but I'm not sure. I would just keep it on low!

  12. As if the girl scout cookie temptations weren't enough.....

I may try to make this for the boy, as long as he promises to A) eat it all in one sitting or B) take the rest somewhere else when he's had enough. This is certainly not in my diet plan :)

    Thank you for sharing!

  16. Whelp, this seems like the best possible use for a crockpot...but I think it needs some frosting! Maybe cream cheese? Ganache? SO MANY OPTIONS!

  24. how many people do you think you can serve with this max? I'm in charge of a dessert for 18 people. Yeah 18. crazy. And I'm wondering if I need to make one of these or two or three. I'm guessing one or two, with strawberries and whipped cream for toppings. What do you think?
