This is huge...I'm Domestic-ated.

Would you believe me if I told you I made painted these and am growing my own herbs?

Don't answer that.

Despite popular belief, I did in fact decide to grow my own herbs and paint them, with the help of my cutie-pa-tootie niece Mara. Very domestic and housewife-ish of me, right?!

I know I talk about food and other random things a lot far too often, but today I'm providing you with a DIY: Growing your own herbs! Get excited!

I spent around $15 for this project...not too shabby if I do say so myself. We had a gift card to Lowe's so I used that for the herbs, but everything else was very inexpensive. Growing your own herbs will also SAVE you money in the long run if you plant ones that you use often! :)

Things you will need:
-3 terracotta pots (or whichever pots your heart desires)
-3 herbs of choice (I used Basil, Cilantro, and Oregano)
-Acrylic paint in your favorite colors
-Miracle Gro Potting Mix
-Sharpie paint marker
-Paint brushes or the sponge brushes like I used (very cheap)

Step 1: Paint your pots in the colors you picked. I painted the rim on the inside of the pots as well.

...or if you have a really awesome & cute niece like I do, have them help you paint :)

Step 2: Wait until your pots are fully dry and use the Sharpie paint marker to write the names of the herbs on them.

Step 3: Place your herbs in the bottom of the pot and surround them with soil. Water them thoroughly!

Easy enough.

Step 4: Show off your herbies for all to see (and for proof that I can be domestic.)

ta-da.

It's important that you place your herbs in a place that they will get at least 5-6 hours of sunlight everyday. I put ours on a spot in the corner of our deck. Also, make sure you bring your herbs inside if there is a chance of frost some mornings (if you have random weather like us Ohioans)

You better believe I will be making a TON of Caprese Salads (tomato, basil, and fresh mozz) and using the cilantro in salsa...hurry up my sweet, herbies!
