Everyone keeps telling me I need to get him on a schedule so we have a routine when I go back to work full time in 4.5 weeks. I really did not know where to start until I read this. I'm type a as well so we started a schedule right away. Since we've brought him home he's woke up between 7 and 8 and almost sleeps through the night, seems like 4:10 is the magic night feeding. Im heading back to work in a few weeks to finish the school year. I am totally dreading it! How did you prepare yourself? What did you leave for your sitter to follow? MIL is wonderful, but the other 3 grandkids have all been pretty much "make their own schedule." So I can understand that she's not used to keeping a baby on a fairly tight schedule. But it's soooo much easier when she can. If they have an off day, I typically just ask to make sure they feed him in between 3pm-4pm for his last bottle of the day so that his night time routine and bottles are still on the same schedule. We were keeping Beckett up until 7:30-8 every night and he basically screamed from 5:30-7:30. Once we figured out that he did best going to sleep at 6:30, everything changed! When I was BF, Beckett always woke at 5am to eat and would sleep again until 7/7:30. I thought if I kept him up until 8:30, he'd sleep until 6:30/7. Nope! He kept his schedule but the "witching hour" stopped! Even now that he's 13 months he still goes to bed by 7:00. Until he was about a year, it was 6:30/6:45.Hilaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13686565812112185860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228314159224187996.post-40117902792610863952015-04-23T16:11:43.747-04:002015-04-23T16:11:43.747-04:00ha, thank you :) :) ha, thank you :) :) Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13699293636698337811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228314159224187996.post-43108980375172555152015-04-23T16:11:31.092-04:002015-04-23T16:11:31.092-04:00I work 3 days a week! If it's a day that I'm home with him, then I will let him sleep and adjust the other feeding times throughout the day to accomodate for that. Lately he has been waking right around 7am give or take 15 minutes..so he might wake up at 645 but he won't be fussing or ready to eat until 7-715ish. I haven't noticed by keeping him up that it disrupts his sleep at all. In fact, it's when I give him a little catnap during that time that then that disrupts his sleep. Does this all make sense? I hope! :) Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13699293636698337811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228314159224187996.post-82416780631657274592015-04-23T15:52:21.499-04:002015-04-23T15:52:21.499-04:00thank you! yes, every baby is different and no day...thank you! yes, every baby is different and no day is EVER the same. :) Katiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13699293636698337811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228314159224187996.post-37315300634241041522015-04-23T15:36:43.235-04:002015-04-23T15:36:43.235-04:00Great little routine! We tried and tried and tried doing this schedule with ours but unfortunately he had colic and reflux and so he just screamed all the time and never wanted to sleep. It's so true that not everything works for everyone and not what happens with one baby will be the same for the next. He's a little dollface!Curly Girl Confessionshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09710977656510177774noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228314159224187996.post-16679250337119375212015-04-23T15:32:30.833-04:002015-04-23T15:32:30.833-04:00We have a very similar schedule! Two questions: Do...We have a very similar schedule! Two questions: Do you wake Camden up at 7am or does he wake on his own? and at night, since you're keeping him up longer than the 90 minute wakeful time, do you find that he gets overtired and it disrupts his night sleep? I ask because Liam wakes up most days on his own at 7:30, but sometimes sleeps later. I feel bad waking him, especially if it was a rough night of sleep (and the whole "never wake a sleeping baby" thing). And at night, he usually wake up from his afternoon nap around 4:30-4:45. His typical period of wakefulness is 90min-2 hours, TOPS, and it's tough because we don't want to put him to bed at 6:30pm (his bedtime is 7:30pm). I let him catnap sometimes, and I always struggle with whether or not I should, as I fear it disrupts his night sleep. But I also feel like keeping him awake past that window gives him a second wind and also results in bad sleep. Such a conundrum! Totally agree though - sleep begets sleep! :)Rachel Farrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15320799441867222251noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4228314159224187996.post-27736439788834697962015-04-23T12:33:28.968-04:002015-04-23T12:33:28.968-04:00Aw he is just adorable!
