Our Kinda Holiday...

Happy Halloween, everyone!

Billy as the Mad Hatter
Yours truly as Bat girl

Billy told you here
how serious we take Halloween..

go big or go home is our motto.

Well, Billy won $200 for Best Costume

and

I got my car towed for $150.

A $50 profit = I'd call that a success.
His outcome a little more positive than mine, but hey..

Full recap on the weekend events will be tomorrow.
But I will say this....it was epic. So many juicy stories to rat out on Jess about share and the Buckeyes took the WIN against Wisconsin. Who SAW THAT GAME?! Absolutely amazing I'm tellin' ya!

and look who was cheering on my Buckeyes all the way in Texas....

my love Steph from a BEAUtiful mess
and
 her awesome hubby Beau doing O-H!

they like to say it's because they need Ohio State to win so Houston would move up in the rankings....
but I know the real truth
...the Buckeye bug has hit 'em hard ;)

......

Today, I have a very heavy heart as I'm attending a funeral for one of my Mom's good friends. Both battled a strong fight with Breast Cancer for 13-14 years and are now at peace together and cancer free. Joy {the most fitting name for her} has continued to show me support over the years and always referred to my Mom as her source of inspiration. She was a wonderful mother of 3 girls and wife...truly a family that I look up to.

If you are blessed to still have your mother in your life, please hug her a little tighter for me today!

RIP Joy

Halloween Weekend Activities {Sneak Peak!!}

Happy Halloween Weekend, y'all!

{Rocky as a baby bee}

By far, one of my favorite weekends of the year.

This week in the "K" household, we watched plenty of Halloween movies and I baked some 'ghostly' treats for the parties we are attending. Tonight is a costume party at my girlfriend Angela's house and then we are heading out downtown. Tomorrow is my girlfriend Jessie's birthday party & tailgaiting for the OSU vs. Wisconsin game. It is going to be a spooktacular weekend ;)

As you know from my previous post, miss A list celeb blogger herself Pink Lou Lou & cutie Jess are making the trek to Cbus for the Halloween festivites! Another BLOGGER meet up! loves it.  I'm THRILLED to spend the weekend with them & show them our city!

Here's a snipet into what I've been up to this week to prepare.......

Halloween weekend nails
{this color is actually Wet N Wild - Rustic.
I saw it at the grocery & loved it}

Ghost pretzel sticks I made to bring
to my girlfriends party!

Getting ready for the OSU vs. Wisconsin game ;)
{app used to make collage is "picture collage"}

Pumpkin Snickerdoodles
{recipe to come next week!}

Last but not LEAST...

A sneak peak of my Halloween costume:

Any guesses?!

What are your Halloween weekend plans?
how will you celebrate?

ps-I'm a firm believer that you're never too old to dress up!

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds {Recipe}

Today I'm sharing one of my favorite recipes for roasted pumpkin seeds. I've used the same recipe for the past 2 years because it requires little effort {um, helloo..I'm a gimp} and it's uber tasty! Roasted pumpkin seeds are full of fiber and protein so if you don't coat them in massive amounts of butter {like I did}, they can be a fulfilling healthy snack. Not to mention, they are pretty festive for Halloween :)

There are many ways you can season your pumpkin seeds...

spicy
salty
sweet
natural
'halloweeny'

I prefer mine spicy and that's what I'm sharing today. I will include a link for what seems like an amazing kettle corn seasoning recipe as well, for all you non-spicy fans. Doesn't that just sound so good?! Kettle corn...mmm.

First--you will want to make sure you clean the seeds. Seperate the seeds from the pumpkin flesh and all the strings. Put them in a strainer and wash them with water. You will want them to be dry before you season them. I read that you can use a hair dryer to hurry up the process, but I just waited it out.

Once the seeds are dry, you are ready to season!

Here's the ingredients you will need:

-4 tablespoons melted butter
{I only used 3 to cut back a little bit}
 you can also use olive oil instead if you prefer.
-1 tsp cayenne pepper
-1/2 tsp thyme
-1/2 tsp salt {sea salt is best}
-1/2 tsp pepper

Put the pumpkin seeds in a medium size bowl and mix all the ingredients into the bowl. Make sure all the seeds are coated well and mixed up evenly. Spread the seeds on a cookie sheet and bake at 275 degrees for 10-20 minutes {or until golden brown.} Keep your eye on them and check them every few minutes so they don't burn.

these are so YUMMY!

I may or may not have ate all of mine in one sitting.
#dontjudge

If you want a more milder recipe, I think this one for kettle corn pumpkin seeds sounds AMAZE.

go here.

Today is also a very special day....

Chevron Pumpkin Tutorial!

HAPPY wednesday EVERYONE!

...and it is a happy day indeed :) Girlfriend here is in a fabulous mood. Not only am I back at work today and ecstatic that I have interaction with the world, but I got my test results back last night from my MRI and there will be no need for surgery! The results showed that I have some tendions that are hyperextended which is causing pain behind my knee and just a bad sprain that needs a couple weeks to heal. FANTASTIC! I'm so thankful that it's nothing serious and that I will be able to get back into running & soccer in just a couple weeks. My pain has gone down & now I'm just trying to rest it as much as possible so I heal quickly. God is good, isn't he?!

this is what I'm LOVING this week. very thankful.

To celebrate, Billy and I decided to carve our pumpkins last night {I realize that sounds ridiculous but it's a celebration when it was the most movement I've had since last Thurs} and then roast pumpkin seeds afterwards. We really enjoy trying to come up with creative things to carve in our pumpkins every year. Last year, if you remember, we did the Breast Cancer ribbon with my aunts initials who had just recently passed away.

{last years pumpkin}

This year, my inspiration for our pumpkins came from the one and only Pinterest. SHOCKING, I knowwwww. Hear me out. This isn't your typical pumpkin "carving", as it involves drilling your pumpkin instead. I was intrigued by this idea and asked Billy to give it a shot with me. I don't even need to tell him anymore where these random ideas come from...he just knows.

Anywho, I knew right away I wanted to do a chevron pattern.

Here's what we did:

1. Use a marker (dry erase works best so you can 'erase' your mistakes with a paper towel like I did) and make your pattern by marking "dots" in the places you want a hole drilled.

2. Pick which drill size you want for the holes
{use a pretty decent size so that the candle light is able to shine through enough}

3. Use a hand drill to drill over the holes to create the chevron pattern

4. Wipe the pumpkin guts off the pumpkin that the drill created

...and here is the final thing all lit up!

lookin' good chevron, lookin' good...

Ooh, and our little family "K" pumpkin is in there too.

What do you think of our chevron pumpkin?

I really enjoyed doing something different and it was super easy to create. The best part is that there are so many different patterns and designs you can make with a drill that I'm thinking about going to get another pumpkin to make some more! :) What pattern would you do? Would you try this?

{I'm linking up with Jamie for WILW & Michelle for Oh, How Pinteresting Weds. for this special Pinterest inspired post!}

Tomorrow I'm sharing a delish roasted pumpkin seed recipe
 so don't throw away those seeds after you carve
 &
 stay tuned!!

The Michelle Money Curl

Where are my Bachelor/Bachelorette fans?

I know you're out there!

If you are familiar with the shows, or with fashion, then you've probably heard of Michelle Money. She's got great style and hair...I can't decide which I like more. Anyway, with all the time I have at home now, I came across this and watched all 9 minutes of it {what else do I have to do?}. I really like the technique Michelle uses for curling her hair and how it's more of a messy curl than a tight curl. I will definitely be trying this next time I can stand on my leg without being in pain, OR, the next girlfriend I can convince to curl my hair for me.

She's pretty goofy in this video too

kinda like myself
so naturally I think she is pretty cool. :)

What do you think of Michelle's hair curling technique?
Will you be trying this?

The one, somewhat exciting thing, about being at home all day is waiting for the mail to come. Did I really just say that?! It's true. I guess I get excited now to check the mail. My amazing boot order that I've been stalking online should be here any day now, and the other day I received my West Elm tray that I won from Michaela

I decided to use it for my jewelry that I wear on an everyday basis. It's nice to keep them all together right beside my bed so that I can find them quickly when in a rush.

{West Elm tray, MK watch, Lilly Pulitzer bangle, F21 chain link bracelets}

I'm off to dominate my MRI today.
hoping & praying for positive results :)

thank you all so so so much for your kind thoughts yesterday
you guys are the best!

happy tuesday lovelies!

I heard it POP.

{location: ER..Friday morning..hey, at least I've got my coffee...}

I know, I've been MIA friends.
for good reason...I promise.

Do you remember last week when I mentioned I had my first indoor soccer game of the season?

Well, a girl on the other team decided to take her sucky soccer skill frustrations out on me and to go straight for my knee. It all happened so fast and before I knew it I was laying on the ground on the field sobbing and not being able to move my left leg. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Just my luck! Even though I have played soccer pretty much my whole life, I've luckily never had a bad injury...until now. I decided to play it like the true cool cat that I am and come home from the game and rest it, versus going to the Emergency Room. Not a good idea.

That morning (Friday) I woke up to my whole leg swollen, not being able to feel my toes, and in extreme pain. Several Vicodin's later, I was feeling high as a kite, as Billy would say ha ha. They took x-rays and determined that nothing was broken, but referred me to do an orthopedic doctor who would tell me if I had a meniscus or ACL tear. They gave me a huge leg brace that is totally not fashion forward, a pair of crutches, and an approximate time that it will take for me to heal: 3-6 long, boring, painful, weeks.

No working out.
No running.
No soccer games.

aka

pure heartbreak for me.

In the mean time, my mind is planning sweet revenge on the girl who did this to me.
I mean....no, I'm not bitter at all. not at all.

I'm not sure if I can blame these thoughts on the vicodin or not. No, she never apologized to me OR asked me if I was OK either. #whatawitch. Anywho, it's not in my genes to stay at home, sit in on the couch, and watch tv. I would actually much rather be at work. I love being active and I'm going crazy already...this damn injury SUCKS!

Let's fast forward to this morning: I went to the orthopedic doctor thinking I would get an MRI and finally know what kind of damage I did, but it turns out I have to wait until tomorrow to get an MRI, and then some more time to actually find out the results. The orthopedic doctor did tell me it's not my ACL, but said it could be a medial meniscus tear. I'm also having severe pain behind my knee so I'm having to rest all the time and elevate my leg as much as possible.

So not what I had planned for this past weekend and for the weeks to come.

Billy (and my Rocky) were wonderful this past weekend and haven't left my side. Rocky kept wanting to sit on the couch with me but when he couldn't, he just laid right below me on a blanket, and kept looking up as if to check on me..so cute. On Saturday, Billy built us a a fire pit for our backyard that he knew I had been wanting, so that we could have a fire Saturday night and make s'mores. He knows chocolate will make me feel better.

Although I'm not able to walk much, it was such a sweet gesture and we had a great weekend of roasting mallows and watching every movie in our collection. I'm planning on resting up a lot this week in hopes that I can attend some of my girlfriends Halloween parties this weekend {and my Jessie bears BIRTHDAY that I.cannot.miss}, for at least a little bit. I have a fierce costume that I'm still going to try and rock ;) that'll be a surprise.

This girl isn't a debbie downer.

Also, this is very important. I'm having some amazing BLOGGY visitors this weekend....

Guess who?!

and..

Miss Kentucky Priss, aka Jess, is coming BACK to visit me for Round 2 and the fabulous Pink Lou Lou is also coming to Columbus to visit for the first time. Amazeballs, right?! I can't wait to finally meet my gf Allie and to see Jess again!

....crutches and all ;)

but wait, where is this gal.....

Like myself, you may be wondering where my other bff Steph is. I'm wondering too. Girl keeps blaming it on the plane tickets, but I mean, I WAS in her wedding, least she can do is get her butt here for Halloween to cheer me up. Don't ya'll agree?!

I will try and post more this week, but forgive me if I'm absent here and there. I still plan on reading all your posts while I'm a gimp to keep me from going insane! In the meantime...you can follow me on twitter-here

feelin' a lil loopy so I must go before I say some things I may (or prob not) regret. ta-ta.

The Time I Bought 4 Pairs Of Shoes In 10 Minutes.

Tumblr_l1752vl8ut1qzh585o1_500_large
sometimes I wonder about the truth in that statement...

{Add to Cart}

Just one simple click is all it takes.

I'm sure you ladies can all relate with me here (and if you can't, just say you can, please). I have been finding so many good deals online lately and have gone a little shopping cray cray. If you follow me on twitter, you read about this yesterday. Online shopping has become my go-to because sometimes I just can't take going into our malls with the crowds, not having what I'm looking for, etc. Ya feel me?

However, I'm pretty good about not buying things that are overpriced or that don't have some kind of coupon code, or free shipping, to go along with them. Do you hear that Billy?

For example, yesterday I bought 3 pairs of boots and 1 pair of flats for just over $100.

Ooh, and this all happened within 10 mins of being on the website.

You could say it was a rather easy decision for me.
#shoeobsessed

{adore this movie}

Anyway, have you heard of Urbanog?

It's a fairly new website for me, but they have HUNDREDS of cute shoes and clothes for seriously good prices. I stumbled upon it from a cute pair of boots I saw via Pinterest...which I ended up ordering. After I show you what shoes I ordered, you should go take a looksie around the shop.

Here's the pretties I ordered...

these are the one I saw via Pinterest.
 I'm definitely going to rock some over the knee socks with these..

a pretty good deal, right?

let's keep going...

I have been searching high and low for this color of boots to replace some old ones I've had, but all the ones I liked were $150 and up.
 Figures.

These are so cute for only $33!!!

Booties are my new fav fall / winter shoe.
They can go with high waisted demin...skinny jeans...to tights!

Those loafers?

much cheaper version of the Sam Edelman's, no? Some Kate may think they are ugly {love her honesty}, and I def. agree with her that they aren't the prettiest of shoes, but they are good for my work.

Like I said, the total was just over $100 due to free shipping and I had a $5 coupon for signing up my email address. Somehow I got both to work. not sure how. Urbanog has SO much to chose from, so go check it out, and become addicted like myself.

So....do you like the deals I found?! I did pretty good, right?
Which ones are your favorite?

oh, and these bad boys I had to sadly pass up.
Someone PLEASE buy them.

Until the next online shopping extravaganza,
don't worry babe, I will take a break for a while...

Staying in *Shape*

Soccer {indoor} has officially started back up for me this week. I have a game tomorrow night and one on Sunday night. Although it keeps me extremely busy throughout the week, it's my happy place & gives me a great extra workout to keep this bod in shape.

I gotta fit into those Halloween costumes, right?!

Also, I'm going to another yoga class tonight.
I'm pretty much only doing it to guarantee I get to see my Jessie bear atleast once a week, since yoga isn't exactly my cup of tea
{yet...}
